Fteocs 2nd Gear March 22, 2019 Share March 22, 2019 Cat B COE certainly didn't shoot up $10000 between Nov 2018 to today, yet the CX5 Premium price shot up from $117k to $127k. Lets see who has a bigger carrot? It's really quite baffling, about 6 to 7 weeks ago I bought mine 2.5 premium ar 120800,at 1.88% interest... Less than 2 months 12k more...... ↡ Advertisement

Midorima 4th Gear March 23, 2019 Share March 23, 2019 (edited) Hi Roger Just comparing how they try to inflate prices .. stupidly to me since detered potential buyers. Even "normal" mazda executive is more luxuriously fitted than 197k bmw x3 that BIL booked last Sat .. with missed soft leather wrapped console and not to mentioned undersized and plastiky audi A3 and Q2 .. lol ! Cheers. Richard You sure about X3? If it’s A3 and Q2 then yes Mazda 6 might be more luxuriously fitted. After all, A3 and Q2 price are quite near Mazda 6. However, you are not paying for the interior only but the drive and engine tech. So for the conti makes something has to give, and in this case, the interior. Ppl buy conti not only for interior. Or the badge. There is the drive, the engine tech, the suspension quality (e.g. air), cabin insulation, etc. I highly doubt the madza6 is more fun to drive than the X3 for e.g. Anyway I think the cars U compare mz6 against abit different genre. X3 is suv, A3 is small sedan, Q2 is compact crossover. Mz6 should be against A6 for e.g. or at the very least, A4. There u will see the interior quality diff. Hi Midorima, Quite sure ... go sit to try. As mentioned center console padded in mazda 6 and not X3. Dash control more clutty with dual row control while mazda will neat single row without missing a beat. Cheers. Richard

I think is more of a personal preference already. You like it minimalist. But if you want more functions you can’t have it both. BMW idrive system is one of the best by the way. Tbh, I’ve seen both. HLC-Mazda6 1st Gear March 23, 2019 Share March 23, 2019 To me I think one should look at how much one is willing to fork out to buy a car and how much you want to pay to maintain it. Once you have set the budget, then you go out to the market and see what kind of car you can get. Then you make tradeoffs between what you need, then what you want, what are you willing to trade off and what you are prepared to live with. Then once decided enjoy the car. Don't compare anymore. Because if you start comparing, it will never end.

To me, the bmw is more premium. Wah cowz. It's like asking people to poll whether Kate Spade is more premium or Hermes is more premium... It's the price of admission. The badge, that gets people to associate the name with a certain standard of quality (perceived or otherwise). But really, is the badge really that important? We fork out so much money for this expensive toy that we tend to forget they're machines. Hence, they should be compared on objective criteria and specifications (just like how you buy PCs right?). I doubt anyone would dispute that BMW is a premium brand (like nobody disputes Hermes over Kate Spade), but really, when you look at 2 cars, from each brand, at a similar price point, it then boils down to which is more value for money, which gives your more specs, more features, better NVH, better drive, etc. Do note that some of the points are subjective rather than objective. At the end of the day, I have nothing against brand snobbery (if I had endless cash I'd get a Rolls Royce, to be chauffeured in). But just a gentle reminder that when you have limited resources, you tend to make the best of what you have.

Richard mz6 has better interior than x3? really? I sat in my colleague's x3. very well built and good finishing Hi SZ, Indeed not bad but at 197k comparatively .. tried but failed to get my BIL to plonk another 17k for the modern and sleek X4 that gets my vote. Midorima 4th Gear March 23, 2019 Share March 23, 2019 Wait guys. I was commenting that the guy says mz6 interior is more premium than X3. I never compared the two as like to like. It was him. I was just saying most people will think X3 more premium. He didn’t do any weighted cost of premium. He outright compared.

The interior design language is very similar. I have personally not sat in a BMW X3 before (once 8-10 years ago in a 5-series belonging to an aunt), but do feel that their sedans have very nice interiors as well. Fteocs 2nd Gear March 23, 2019 Share March 23, 2019 (edited) Having owned 2 (335, 535, c250, e200) out of the big 3 (German), a Scandinavian (s60) and 2 jap (civic, forester Xt) and now a jap (Mazda 6)... In Singapore such pricing for car in particular, excluding the TOP range from the “premium” Brand, you don’t get anywhere near the 50k more or 100k more car no matter what perspective it is, be it built, handling, look, etc all add up together.... Branding for the most part is psychology and some part substance. So the mid and lower range is mostly selling base on psychology factor. A bmw 335 and 535 cost easy 80k to 120k more....(not a same timeframe comparison again unique to Singapore pricing structure)...one will never get anywhere near 10 to 20k more car.....the rest of the money goes to........”to each his own”... Comparing based on price range in fultile.... Edited March 23, 2019 by Fteocs

The AA so far so good...WhatsApp messages also can read out but not voice messages, just found out. Mine come installed with car, so can’t say whether the price is worth, all I can say is if mine didn’t come with it, I won’t spend to add, as I not into all the flashy tech, prefer simple. ↡ Advertisement
