Just wait for the outcome of the GPS ERP trial results. Gov few months back called for a trial tender. Don't know what is the status right now on this matter.

I think if it's successful...we will see cheaper card and COE....and all will be usage based charges.

Don't think those police will be so free to copy down the numbers since it can be done automatically.

A friend was caught at the checkpoint at 10min before the restricted time ends while coming back from JB. He was rushing to the toilet and thought it okay as long you stay within the checkpoint compound and don't drive out. But he didn't realised that when stamping the passport, the ICA officer will key in your vehicle number. At that point you are officially back. I suppose the system there is also link directly to LTA.

Use to see OPC parking one side at the MY side of the causeway 15 mins before 6pm on weekdays.

Sometimes can see as many as 10+ OPC mass orgy there. Is this still happening ?

Sometimes better to take a taxi in emergency case....saving the $17,000 is silly. I rather get a motorcycle for my work use. And buy OPC for non emergency weekends family use. If real emergency...call cab....no need to worry no parking at NUH!!!

Weekend car can put their favorite air fresher so taking cab not worth it.

Hi,Thanks all for the info here.

Make me clear of the seriousness forgot to buy e-day license.

Last Sat I went to JB to fetch my daughter for doctor visit here.. So kinda rush.. Tot of will buy the e-day license bait later... But ... Due to some last mins matters... I total forgot about it until yesterday (Monday) around 12.15am then realized that forgot to buy!!

But when I immediately called to LTA and asked for advice.. That lady just said that is nothing that I can do just wait for LTA to send letter!

*Really thanks to all of you that I found some useful info and advices here...

~ just submit appeal through the LTA website and wait for their call/ letter.

~ ignore it and see estimate 2 months got receive any fine / letter issued...

~ appeal for lower fine after received letter in around 2 months time...

~ immediate plan a trip down to LTA the following day to inform the officer and see what the officers could help.

Luckily I choose to apply half day leave and proceed straight down to LTA for this matter.. Mentally prepared as might receive fine between $500 ~ $200 (info as I get from here & forums) for the first timer.

~ lucky me that after interviewed by the officer, I only need to pay $30 inclusive of the e-day license that I forgot to purchase last Saturday!!!

So my advice to all brothers & sisters here... If really forgot to purchase e-day license, DON'T IGNORE / DON'T try luck see maybe never tiok captured / submit appeal online...

***The BEST is : PROCEED to LTA immediately on the following day to see what the officers could assist!

Hope it is useful.. o(^_^)o

Hehehe... Will change to "Revised OPC"from this weekends onwards to save the trouble & 

Have a nice day ahead !

This is true, during the coupons time, a car was stop at the petrol check trying to chiong into jb before 3.00 on a sat and was told to park aside with the coupon in the hand of the officer. To me everyday is a emergency OPC wont work for me and will never work for me. 17,000 k donest worth the hassle. OPCs does makes the gov richer.

Do you guys know that now LTA allows you to buy e-day license at $30 up to 3 days after the deadline? There's a link at the website. I wasn't aware of this until I surf the website and click on the dizzying number of links there.

Quoting:

What can I do if I used my OPC but forgot to buy an e-Day Licence within the stipulated period?

After using your OPC, you need to buy/date an e-Day License by 11.59 pm of the following day. If this is not done, it will be considered an offence.

OPC drivers/owners who have missed the payment deadline and voluntarily informed LTA of the use of their vehicles within 3 days after the deadline will be allowed to settle the violation at $30.

For lodgement of an appeal, you may click here to provide the pertinent information. We will respond to you as soon as we can.

Not buy e-day licence lah, it is to "settle the violation", not the same. Still will have record.

Wah best idea!

I must admit, things are very easy and convenient in Singapore.

Even self admit fault, they also give chance to redeem it with a slight premium.

Very well done.

Now OPC still got any excuses about no chance to buy elicence three days after the event? Cannot say wife go hospital stay more than 3 days....or son high fever 3 days so still forgot?

All lame excuses loopholes covered very well!!

@Celicar: you're right! I notice my mistake after posting. They do call it "settling the offense".

It definitely beats "there's nothing you can do" and "wait for LTA's letter".

Even if it's a fine, at least it's transparent and not arbitrary.

Hi,

If you have forgotten to pay during stipulated dead line, you can voluntarily inform LTA about it. There is just a $30 payment for it. Following is the caption from LTA website -

"OPC drivers/owners who have missed the payment deadline and voluntarily informed LTA of the use of their vehicles within 3 days after the deadline will be allowed to settle the violation at $30."

You can see more details on LTA website -
