Cannot wear anything gold and never been a fan of RG . Yattokame 4th Gear December 24, 2012 Share December 24, 2012 Just to share an incident lately. a female colleague of mine was asking my opinion about watches over lunch last week and she asked if there's anything worth buying below 1k, a leather dress watch. I told her I am not very sure but maybe a couple of brands might do. suddenly she started talking about Panerai. she sounded very passionate about it. I am clueless about panerai but nonetheless I told her I can accompany her to my usual AD and the Panerai boutique which I have never gone before. she's a rather pretty and friendly lady who is extremely sporty. up the mountain, down deep diving, she will do it all. she is wearing a jap quartz watch for her diving. she's usually dressed sporty, so very very simply dressed that day we went shopping. as we walked around orchard road..... I could totally see how the sales people literally see her no up. they took a quick glance at her wrist and gave her an attitude, as though she is asking for fun. more often than not she will walk out of the shop and we will agree the salesperson really sucks. the sales at Panerai boutique was the worst. could tell he was almost not keen to bring the watch out to show her. no explanation of the model, no chit-chat, no nothing. even in the boutique she sms-ed me "this guy sucks". which I replied "yeah. let's go." we didn't even get the name of the guy. From ION to the AD which I frequent, she was bitching about the guy non-stop. As soon as we arrived at the AD, she asked the price of a panerai she saw then realize there is a discount (no discount at boutique), so she bought...... not 1.... but 3 watches at one go. she asked "can I pay some by cash the rest by credit card?" She then took out 20k cash from her bag (something like those umbro bag we used in school), each one a minty bill. This was shocking to me for she never knew about watches and as a beginner she just whacked 3 at one go (one of which is a panerai). she then turned to me and said "I am still very angry with that guy. he will never earn my money this lifetime!" she also asked me not to share with our colleagues what we shopped that day. after that she said she gotta rush off, so she told the staff to keep the watches at the shop; she will collect them after she come back 2 weeks later; going overseas to dive. very unique experience for me. then I heard from another colleague.... her family dunno is the grandpa owns a bank or what but she don't like people to know. she just sms-ed me to say she is hooked on watches now. ask me when free can bring her go around to see watches.
