aiya .. over the top as usual. so called "race mode" just allows the car to shift quicker la, maybe makes it lower etc. they just keep harping on "race" mode without explaining what it does, and will confuse laymen about this so-called feature.

the guy was an idiot for speeding, plain and simple. but sometimes these journalist really need to do a little more homework ...

why is it that until now they never ask that girl what really happened!

his passenger!

although the case is closed, but I feel that girl needs to let the public know what really happened. [knife]

That's my guess too. i guessed to be 180km/hr, by looking at the taxi's camera video clip.

And no wonder AXA refused to pay. i support AXA in this.

A driver driving at 180km/hr, still dare to claim insurance? No shame at all..........

well.... he didn't claim it didn't he... he didn't live to claim. :o

someone like people deserves to live.

to be punished by the law, live in remorse and guilt for the rest of his life, and to be put behind bars.

actually the lack of information obtained from the gal reeks of a plot to keep some information under wraps.

i cannot imagine such a critical witness to this accident is not interviewed, no statements taken or nothing mention about what she said.

that's why!

only she knows what really happened.

but i guess this is how the case will end. we will be left speculating and not have a real conclusion.

my gues there is some political consideration not to let public know the truth, hence no statement from girl was publicised. in fact, the choice to tell the public he is on medication but yet not reveal any statements taken from the girl suggest there is some covert action to reduce the negative sentiment against ma chi.

its difficult at this moment to cover up if AXA is bent on winning the case. The lady passenger is a critical piece of live evidence.

but the thing is, yeah, it can still be politically manipulated.

this is a civil suit. not a criminal suit.

i don't think aviva have the power to summon the girl as witness in a civil suit.

but clearly in this state commissioned enquiry, they didn't even mention anything about what the girl said.

The key to all this is whether the insurer is able to determine whether you wilfully broke the road rules or it was just an accident that the policy was designed to cover. In this case the driver was doing 3x the speed limit and they have the data to prove it. They shouldn't pay out for such a reckless and dangerous act. But it does set a precedent that could see insurers potentially challenging claims and these ending up court and using their financial muscle. Hopefully we don't get to that situation and that some sensibility sets in.

Most agree that 180kmh is deliberate reckless endangerment in SG roads. In NSHW how? 200kmh is common. So if want to speed that fast make sure your car doesnt have blackbox, otherwise in death or permanent disabiity( which is worst) your insurance is voidable. In future we will have blackbox which will tell us. You are speeding..slow down..Too late! Your insurance cover is now suspended [laugh]

well........we will never know if it is the witness faking amnesia or the inquiry board by design omit testimony of the witness.

but i do say i smell a rat that they announce there were traces of medicine in his blood stream. i think many of us would have driven while under medication and still drive perfectly ok. if he is really not well, why would he tell his wife he is going out to spin in his car at such unearthly hour and then pick up a ktv gal to send her home?

Where is the passenger now? Still "studying" in singapore or gone back to china with a nice little angpow?

according to the article she left shortly after the accident. they only have her initial testimony to go on.
