Vhtfhwlego Supercharged October 31, 2012 Share October 31, 2012 3.56 times the legal limit on that road. would be equivalent to 320 on express way or 249 in KPE tunnel Do you stop at every stop line? Failure to stop while doing TP test = immediate failure. If everyday you drive pass 5 stop lines without stopping, it makes you 5 times for a person that cant drive? Hmm,..... I would to say the speed is fast but you cant divide over speed limit & multiply just like that & compare. ↡ Advertisement

I would to say the speed is fast but you cant divide over speed limit & multiply just like that & compare. The stop line has a flaw. In theory, it forces 1 to stop some distance before the intersection. There is no way to clearly see any oncoming traffic until they are near. It just forces people to stop, then inch forward. I don't understand why they don't move the stop line further out just before the end of the lane. Cars will definitely slow down or stop to check before exiting, just like what we are doing now. International or SG standard? As for the multiplication effect, TP uses the same method, such as for drunk drivers where they'll say xxx times over the legal limit of yyyy. Tell his in court or when doing claims or taking TP... Drinking over limit because it's a formula that percentage of alcoho remains in body after drinks. But it cannot tell the number of drinks exceed the alcohol limit.

Yewheng Twincharged October 31, 2012 Share October 31, 2012 (edited) I think that Ma Chi maybe thinking in split seconds when traffic light turn red maybe about 100+m (my guessing ) to traffic light and felt that he may not be able to stop in time due to travelling at 160+km/h, so he might as well accelerate and chiong red light. I mean breaking distance for 160km/h will be at least 100m. I did e-brake before at 130km/h and distance already more than 100m. So it is impossible for Ma Chi to stop before the white line at his speed unless he drive F1 car. Edited October 31, 2012 by Yewheng
macrosszero Turbocharged October 31, 2012 Share October 31, 2012 Incidentally, it only takes 7.3 seconds for a Ferrari 599 GTO to hit 106 mph (170kph) from a standing start. Most cars on the road can't even hit 100kph in the same time.

Drinking over limit because it's a formula that percentage of alcoho remains in body after drinks. But it cannot tell the number of drinks exceed the alcohol limit. I am not suggesting doing away with the stop line. How many times in your TP pratical test you stop before/at the stop line, and having to inch forward a little more coz you can't see the oncoming traffic? The question is why can't they draw the stop line at this position where drivers can stop and have a clearer view of the main road? In fact all drivers are stopping at around this region. What's the statistics of accidents caused by drivers doing a single stop here? Do You see any point arguing with TP or LTA? They created the rule + grey areas so that they can manipulate and fine you if thry want. The stop line marking just helps them in investigations n pinning fault. Take a look at commercial vehicles/buses that are carrying passengers. Speed limit is 60 km/h for them with passengers, but all goes excess of it. Don't tell me our TP/LTA don't know? Expressways have so many cameras for them to see. Nothing happens, close 1 eye and disregard passenger safety. Something happens that adds on the statistics, the driver gets big time and they'll throw in all sorts of existing rules.
Toothiewabbit Supersonic November 1, 2012 Share November 1, 2012 (edited) Today's TNP reported that the Ferrari's dashboard camera recorded its speed at 168kmh just before the Rochor Road junction and was in race mode. From his car camera, red light was seen for 2 seconds. At the point of impact, its speed was recorded at 178kmh. I don't condone this act of blatant speeding, but as far as physics go, if the Ferrari was travelling over 200kph he might have cleared the junction without hitting anything. Wa, you say like that is like taking chances, i.e he may excape death if he speed at even higher speed but another day may met into very bad accident and end result is still the same. How many lucky charm do a person has?? Why not say, if the ferrari was travellling at 100km/h, he might not have hit the taxi and there will not be so much hype over this accident. Myxilplix Turbocharged November 1, 2012 Share November 1, 2012 Race mode siol. Where got race track there? Regarding stoplines, they are not consistently placed. Some can be 2-3 meters back from the edge of the major road whist some can be 50cm from the edge. Dunno what is the guideline LTA has for stoplines, or is up to our friendly brudder banglah when he is painting the lines? Anybody with link to lta or their contractor's know? ↡ Advertisement
