Lexus IS200turbo

Selling $169888...

Anyone bought/ interested?

Test drive Is200 and BMW 318. The BMW is only 136 hp vs 240hp Lexus. But the BMW feels more lively and the gear change seems smoother when picking up speed. I can't feel the exact 100hp when driving the Lexus.

Any Brother have the same experience/feel?

May I ask existing owner of IS200 on the fuel consumption. The SE claim it can achieve 13+ km/l, but I read some internet it can do only around 10. As I drive around 500km per week, FC is an important consideration for me.

Thanks.

Depend a lot on your driving pattern and whether trapped in traffic jams. But I suspect the typical will be around 10km/l for IS200t.

Only thing I don't like about getting a Lexus in SG... BM just don't seem to show any interest in bringing in the active safety technologies

The 318 should be much cheaper? Since it is at a lower tier in terms of engine capacity.

They are quite similarly priced actually. Both cars have pros and cons in my opinion.

IS has better spec on paper, but on actual drive I think BMW is more lively. ( which I think is rather strange. But my wife also feel the same as me )

For interior, IS is more modern and complicated looking , while BMW looks dated but has more functional layout.

For exterior, I prefer BMW more rounded style as IS has too many sharp angles/edges. But there are too many BMWs , So Lexus IS is more special on the road.

The RemoteTouch system is nice to look at and has a luxuriously padded controller wrist rest... but this trackpad mouse thing is just not as easy to use in practice as Lexus likes to suggest it is.

iDrive has come a long way and is one of the best systems on the market.

I half like half dislike the current Lexus design language... It stands out, but it's also somewhat ridiculous. But at least it's not as haphazard as the latest Prius.

I do think the Lexus interior looks more luxurious, while BMW does have a neat Germanic clean functionality to its somewhat dated style. Lexus does throw in some nicer instruments now, and the F Sport gets the LFA style digital meter.

That's because you drive like a pussy.  IS200t VVT able to switch to Atkinson cycle when it is driven like a pussy.

To feel the grunt of the engine, you need to drive it hiong hiong lai.

I bought the 169,888 IS 200t turbo runout offer and I must say it's a really good buy. The SE was willing to throw in some extras like more servicing, 3M solar film, etc etc. The price has increased to 172,888 now and heard only in black with less freebies. Cheers.

Yes you got a good deal.

With 37.5k OMV and current COE of 56k  , Borneo's profit margin is only about 15k ,  and the car's  depre is less than 15k per annum.

As I had mentioned earlier , I paid 176k  at the time when COE was 46k ; so you enjoyed a 16k  ''discount''  over mine.

Congrats for those who got it at 160+k which was the lowest possible this model ever went to. Depreciation is really low at around 14+ k a year.

Unfortunately when I was shopping for new replacement (old car was scrapping) last year, only had the IS250 which was priced at 200+k - due to OMV being 40+ k and CEVS penalty.

I got mine at run out price as well. Was deciding between is200t and Bmw318. Finally Choose Lexus due to the lower depreciation as the PARF is 10k more 318, and higher hp.
