The above woman (bank employee, aged 33) kena asthma during a telco's service disruption. She stopped breathing serveral times and is in danger of dying because of oxygen deprivation to the brain.

The woman has been in a coma for 6 days and is in an ICU.

To be fair, they also never explain how exactly the service disruption led to her coma. She could SMS her husband for help just fine

emergency number should be able to call right?

First, i think you need to log on to either Singtel or Starhub network, which i'm not sure whether it's possible with an M1 SIM card..

the newspaper said:

she was very uncomfortable and couldn't talk, sms the hubby and ask him to go clinic and pick up the medicine for her asthma, hubby ask if she is ok, she say no..... hubby was at work and got worried, he quickly go home but stuck in the jam, he SMS her to keep in touch but no signal (he is on M1 but wife with Singtel).....

he collected the medicine and rush home and saw her unconscious liao. if M1 is working mean he could have called the ambulance.

Two points here but i know, easy to say now.

1) hubby should have called the ambulance if he could send sms, i believ he could call. What probably happened is he did not know how serious it was and wanted to at least eye ball her before calling an ambulance. Sometimes, sms does not convey the seriousness of the situation.

2) wife should have caled the police of ambulance. Even without speaking, audible wheezing could be heard over the phone and the call could be traced.

I dun think it's fair to put the blame on somebody else. If this medical condition is not new to the lady dan she has the responsibility to take care of her own body. IMO she should be prepared in an event she does not have an inhaler with her. I mean she should had find out what are the things to do if she suffers an attack w/o an inhaler....you know...just in case.

Anyway the telco disruption happened on weekdays. She should be working in the bank office with ppl around. Unless she's on leave, outside & totally alone. I hope that she recovers. Let it be a lesson for those who have some sort of medical condition, the importance of always carrying rescue medication cannot be understated.

Btw, a quick remedy for asthma and without inhaler is to drink caffeinated drinks like coffee, coca cola, etc.

actually warm coca cola will do also...asthma been my friend for so many yrs...and what med does she need to pick up ? normally inhaler will do the trick...and if she's an asthma sufferer...she should know to protect herself..and keep inhaler by her side at all times...really unfair to blame telco...

and what meds should he collect ?

prenisolone ??

i was told by nurse at polyclinic to puff 4 times continously every 10 mins till ambulance arrives..so i still feel this lady did not do the necessary preventive measures...asthma does not occur overnight...it stays with one for yrs..so by right she should know..and not blame the telco <_< ..(coming from a person who has asthma since young [:p] )
