maybe they use the spark plugs in O&G. :XD:

Yes, those sparkies used in O&G cost about 100 per piece, comes with many papers and certification. I think the paper weighs more than the plug. [laugh]

I crossed reference the number, looks like ordinary plug we used. [grin]

HI all,

sorry to hijack the thread.

I'm trying to replace my ignition coil for my Nissan Sunny N16.

Anyone know the model/part number for the ignition coil?

Thanks!

Was driving at ECP and then found the car jerky whenever I tapped lightly at the accelerator.

And it became more dragging as I drove, there was a loss of power.  Vibration could be felt.

When I stopped at the traffic light in front of Vivocity, the engine suddenly stalled. Luckily, I managed to re-start the engine again and drove to a public car park to wait for a tow truck.

In the end, changed, the followings:

1. ignition coils x 4 = $360 (total for 4).

2. spark plugs = $90 (set of 4)

3. labour  = $30.

Total  = $480.

Car is Year 2010 Nissan Teana J32, 2.0L.    Mileage is ~123,500km.

After the very recent ignition coil and spark plug change, the engine is working almost normal.

But somehow, I find that the acceleration is a bit hesitant than before and not as powerful.  Occasional roughness/jerkiness could be felt.

What could be the issue?  Thanks.

Maybe plugs wrong specs? (gap/temp)

Last time I had this experience is because of a bad MAF sensor aka mass airflow sensor.

I just messaged the workshop about the symptoms.  The reply was "could be gearbox issue".  How likely is this?

What are the symptoms of gearbox issues you have previously encountered?  Under what condition would the check engine warning be lighted up?

So far the car is running alright after coil change, just that it is not as perfect as  before.

Does the symptom occur only during upshifting or downshifting of gear? Any jerk when you shift from P to D and from D to R?

Gearbox related symptom usually occur at these circumstances.

No, not during these shifting.

When in the "D" gear, I find that I need to step on the accelerator a bit more to get back the same power as before.  Like-wise for going up a gentle slope.

Are there any diagnostic tools I could use to do a health check on an old Teana?

Got to have a check engine light in order for the diagnostic tool to show something. No light means no issue.

Can be a number of issues causing it. A dirty throttle body can also cause such symptoms. I dunno your car is using which type of throttle body, cable or e-type. Got EGR or not? If the EGR valve is clogged it also can do the same. Mechanic may not straight away know where the root cause is. Got to check one by one to be sure.

I dont think it's gearbox. Yours is a cvt? Got problem means whiny, grinding noise. It wont hesitate. It will be constant.

I am wondering if a bottle of Redline fuel system cleaner would help?

Do a 0 to 100 test and see if still within 1, 2 seconds from specs. Could be just your butt feel calibration off.

His labour only $30, I’m sure your labour will be higher. So likely his workshop profits  are buried in the cost of the parts.

Are the plugs original? Coils too? If so then try cleaning throttle body like the rest said.
