  2. My Latio AT felt jerky this morning when I drove to work. Went direct to AD as its near my office. They told me the ignition coil and spark plugs need to be replaced. Est $900. Went to a small motor shop and the uncle who had a nissan diagnostic computer told me only 1 ignition coil need to change. Est $100 plus. However, spares are available only on Monday. Anyone knows if driving with one misfiring coil will damage the engine?

The fire, which started near Gate 1 of the market, was reported at around 9.15pm, and the blaze was brought under control by firefighters around one hour later, according to the Bangkok Post. About 20 fire trucks were deployed to the scene in Chatuchak district, The Nation reported. Witnesses said they saw flames and heard sporadic explosions. 9. Parked my car at a condo in the east. Happened to park at the resident's lot by accident as the marking on the tarmac was very faint. Furthermore, there were plently of other lots around. But luck would have it, my car was clamped. The thing is the left rear wheel was clamped and I attempted to drive off without seeing the clamp. Of course, the clamp worked like a charm and the car couldn't move. I press harder on the gas and heard some shrieking sound coming from the rear. I got out and smell buring rubber and some smoke coming form the rear left wheel. There was no note on my windscreen or any thing at all that might have warned me about the clamp. And I don't have the habit to check if my car was clamped before moving off(don't think anyone has). Nevertheless, the rims were badly scratched and i suspect the suspension was damaged as well. Anyway, I talked to the security guard and was told that i was the one who committed the offence first by parking at resident's lot so there was no cause for compensation. Now when i drive, i hear a knocking sound coming form the rear suspension. What recourse do I have?
  10. Interesting article about flood damaged cars on back of Sandy causing extensive flooding in New York. http://autos.aol.com/article/how-to-avoid-...d-damaged-cars/
  11. The STOMPer was not clear about this "stationary" car. Was the car on the road waiting behind another vehicle or at a traffic light junction waiting to move off OR was it illegally parked along the road when the bus hit it? If it is the former then the owner's insurer can file a valid claim against the bus company but if the car was instead parked along a road which it was not supposed to then it would be a different scenario and best outcome could be a 50:50 claim yes? From STOMP: http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/stomp/sg...ly_damaged.html Posted on 15 May 2012 Parked car badly damaged after SBS bus changes lane and hits it STOMPer Huile witnessed a SBS bus swing recklessly into a lane at Airline Road, hitting a stationary car and badly damaging it. Huile said: "This SBS bus swinged suddenly into the lane recklessly and hit a stationary car at Airline Road at 8.30am yesterday. "The car was very badly damaged and part of the bus was damaged as well but the bus did not stop."

  14. Deranged or lost $$$? From CNA: http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/sin...1169730/1/.html 73-year-old man damaged 16 taxis at RWS Posted: 06 December 2011 1626 hrs SINGAPORE: A 73-year-old man used sharp objects to scratch and damage 16 taxis at the carpark of Resorts World Sentosa (RWS). Police said he will be charged in Court on December 8 for mischief. The incident came to light in early April this year when two taxi drivers reported that their taxis parked at the basement carpark of RWS were scratched by unknown persons. Subsequent checks by police with RWS revealed there were other similar but unreported cases. Together with RWS security personnel, police established the identity of the suspect. Police said investigations revealed the suspect had used various sharp objects to scratch the paintwork of the taxis out of frustration on multiple occasions. The total repair cost to the damaged vehicles is valued at approximately S$8,600. If convicted, he is liable for imprisonment for jail of up to two years, a fine or both. - CNA/fa
  15. A commercial van (stationary and not driven) was parked along a 2-lanes 2-ways road doing loading/unloading of cargo. While my car was passing alongside, an object fell off and hit my car sustaining dents and stretches on the car body. Van supervisor acknowledged the accident and signed a written note for cost of repair at his appointed workshop. However, he refused to honour the written agreement, claiming it was not a car-to- van accident but rather a careless workmanship from his workers. Can I claim repair cost from the van insurance company or claim for public liability from that company insurance? Should the company have not been insured, then I need to engage a lawyer to claim against owner of the company. Appreciate your comment

  21. Hmmm.....wonder if LTA is checking? If not, can imagine some unscrupulous PIs buying cheap, slightly damaged ones from jeepun dealers and shipping them here for chop-chop repairs b4 selling it as a 'new car'. http://www.asiaone.com/News/AsiaOne%2BNews...329-270606.html
  22. Are the Farrari mechanics highly paid, comparing to normal workshop like Mercedes/BMW?? http://www.asiaone.com/Motoring/News/Story...712-226568.html Sultan's exotic sports car allegedly damaged at Hong Seh By Arul John THE almost brand-new car had a leaking fuel tank. As it was under warranty, the owner sent it for repairs at the authorised workshop. But while there, it was allegedly further damaged. And this has upset the owner, who happens to be Sultan Ibrahim Ismail of Johor. The car, too, is no ordinary car but a custom-built white Spyker C8 Spyder convertible, estimated to be worth US$300,000 ($415,000), excluding taxes and other costs. The model is rare in this region. The New Paper on Sunday understands that the sultan's car - which is not even three months old - is the only one of its kind in Singapore and Malaysia. Sultan Ibrahim, who is in his 50s, bought the car from a dealer in Beirut, Lebanon, in May or June. The Spyker C8 Spyder convertible has an all-aluminium AudiV8 engine and a power output of 400 Bhp. The hand-built car comes with a six-speed manual gearbox, rear-wheel drive and an anti-lock braking system. Its top speed is 300kmh and it can go from 0 to 100kmhin just 4.5 seconds. Car enthusiast The New Paper on Sunday understands that the sultan is a car enthusiast who owns more than 200 luxury cars. Sources said that Sultan Ibrahim sent the Spyder to Hong Seh Motors, the only agency in the region authorised to repair Spyker cars, on June 24 to fix the leaking fuel tank. On Thursday, the sultan's friend in Lebanon called and told him that he learnt that the car had been damaged at the workshop. Concerned, the sultan sent a representative to Hong Seh on Friday to find out what had happened. The New Paper on Sunday understands that the car had been placed on a car lift and was damaged when it rolled off onto the ground. It is not known when the car was damaged. The sultan's representative madea police report on Friday. In the report, the representative said the car's side skirts and rear right side were dented. The sultan has since appointed law firm Allen & Gledhill to take legal action against Hong Seh for the alleged damage to the car. The royal palace in Johor is now considering its options. The repair costs and the cost of any civil claim, if filed, are unknown. The car is still on Hong Seh's premises. It is understood that Hong Seh has been told not to touch the car till further instructions from the owner. The New Paper on Sunday called Allen & Gledhill but it declined to comment. Mr Edward Tan, Hong Seh's executive director, also declined to comment on the incident.
  23. This morning si bey suay. Turning head in into a parking lot next to kerb, my front left wheel hit the kerb at slow speed, but still kenna. Other than a sratched rim, there was a small chunk of rubber that was right at the edge of the rim that got cut off. As this tire is very new, less than 2 weeks, I feel very reluctant to change it. Can any bro here advise how safe or unsafe such a situation is? Thanks.
