Joseph22 Turbocharged April 1, 2013 Share April 1, 2013 (edited) If so simple, then Iraq and Afghanistan wouldn't be in the state they are today. did iraq or Afghanistan combine with a company with large corporate? totally two different scenario Edited April 1, 2013 by Joseph22
Joseph22 Turbocharged April 1, 2013 Share April 1, 2013 (edited) Iraq got better deal... they got oil. We live in interesting times. yeah. but do they have large corporate belong to their own country who can help to support them?? NK is different as they provide an alternative for their company own large corporate to open up factory in north korea instead of venturing out for cheap/low cost labor. Shull Turbocharged April 1, 2013 Share April 1, 2013 (edited) Sure, you have Hyundai and all. I don't have to name every one of them. These are very respectable achievements. Reunification with DPRK is a different matter altogether. DPRK has a population of 25M, many of which has been isolated with the rest of the world but GDP less than 5% of ROK. GDR, on the other hand, was one of the richest of Eastern Europe in 1989 having GDP about 1/5 of FRG. Β Feeding the NK citizens shouldn't be a big problem, note that NK's policy of "Military first" means quite a large percentage of their food goes to army rations, at the expense of ordinary citizens. So if the 2 Koreas did one day reunify, SK should have the excess capacity to feed the additional population. And SK can get help from uncle sam too. Β What is worrying is, once the border open, NK citizens will flood towards SK, making integration a big problem. Β What is worrying is, once the border open, NK citizens will flood towards SK, making integration a big problem. Β In the midst of this discussion about whether SK can handle reunification with NK, I am wondering if in the first place is reunification automatic/mandatory?? I mean NK could still exist as a nation of its own - a "good" general can take over for 2 to 3 years and set things right in the country (with UN help), reduce the military, abandon nuclear plans, start receiving international aid, maybe even start setting political parties (I am assuming they don't have any since never hear about any of them) and maybe in a couple of years can have GE and will then have a democratically elected govt. Β I think the NK people deserve to have a govt of their own and not subsumed into SK or China or whatever.
