True, true, be more kaisi than sorry. Lol.

So your symptom only have what le? And it is after how long got bitten than symptom appeared le?

I think I read somewhere that Dengue mortality rates are much higher than Zika, yet most people I know don't think much about Dengue.

You say until dengue so scary le. But think even people know much about dengue also nothing much they can do. Cause you cant stop a dengue carrier mozzie to bite you lo. Even though you might take prevention.

Keep a look out and prevent mosquito breeding e.g. stagnant water very important.

If suay suay kenna and emergency need blood transfusion.

Blood transfusion? So serious? Sometimes you prevent mozzie breeding, but people around doesnt also could get you into trouble.

Dengue has 4 serotypes (ie 4 strains).

There are 2 main issues with dengue,

1) Dengue hemorrhagic fever or Dengue Shock syndrome

- they can get dehydrated or go into shock with organ failure

- some of them are due to reinfection with another dengue serotype (ie Been infected with Type 2 for example years ago, then now got type 4)

2) Low Platelet count with risk of spontaneous bleeding (brain etc or other places)

- The monitoring of the blood count is for the PLATELET COUNT. It drops with most patients for dengue. Some minimally, some can go dangerously low.

- if it reaches critically low levels, platelet tranfusion may be started to help the body tide over until the infection recovers

Most people admitted to hospital for monitoring usually just have the latter. The first is uncommon but are probably the cause which lead to death or possibly ICU stay.

Of course your own body condition matters. If your body is not strong, then if u get DHF or DSS, then your body may nt be able to take it. Hence u see some elderly dying from dengue fever.

DSS or DHF, are the symptoms obvious? Remember there was a boy from Maris Stella, who had high fever and later passed on due to dengue. Wonder what are the symptoms that they missed.

If no fever, it would not have DSS or DHF, right? Dengue must develop fever first before other symptoms will come in?

I am looking for more definitive symptoms other than fever. The marist boy had high fever, no one, including the doc suspect it was dengue.

My guess was his symptoms were pretty generic, anyone would have missed a more serious disease like dengue.

For the maris case, maybe doctor did not do a blood test to check for possible dengue even though it is high fever?!

Seems like different people kenna dengue got like different resistant levels 1; i know of some people its really terrible.... along the same levels as chikungunya

Initially I thought was fever and i DIY myself but i felt very strange this time so finally wife KPKB I went to see doctor; the temp kept at a constant 1-1.5 degrees above normal like 37.5-38 degrees ; also every year I take immunizatioin too at poly

Mine also mild so just report to polyclinic every morning for like 1 week for blood test (the pinoy nurse also very friendly 1) & after that showed some corpuscles level was OK and they said can go back and no need to report no more ; But everytime go polyclinic means kenna waste like 1 hour to 11/2 hours (as I have to wait for blood results and see doctor)

Best part is after I kenna the dengue they come and put banner in my neighborhood the next day, with Orange sticker ; ENV seems very efficient 1

Have 4 different strains of dengue right?

Only one strain cause the internal bleeding.

I heard once recovered, you are immune to the affected strain.

So you have less chance than others to get affected.

And you seemed to have been infected by a strong strain.
