If fare decreases it will most likely be called "fare adjustment".

If they announce fare review it means they want to review how many % to increase.

Anyone can recall when was the last time the fare decreases? Like never lor.

Fare, like age, can only go UP, and no downnn :D

Still another example of trying to achieve GDP... keep increasing fares so transport company can stay profitable... Anyone on their board of directors?

More fares = more dividends = more money... eventually citizens just pay and pay to keep the vicious GDP cycle running... For the GOOD of Singapore... MORE MONEY MORE MONEY...

If oil is staying low for this period of time, we are going to see what those jokers from ptc

are going to justify for the coming fare increase.

Public transport fare will never decrease. It's only one-way street to increase.

We all know it's a monopoly and that's what we get.

Private bus companies are more or less locked out.

If they are allowed to operate, they will undercut price.

Then SMRT, SBS will complain.

They will complain about everything, about maintenance, cost, salaries, etc... maybe they need to maintain bus stops (who knows?)

Or do we need fancy bus stops or just a simple pole will do ?

Public transport fare hike capped at 2.8% for 2015: Lui Tuck Yew

"This is lower than the original roll-over figure of 3.4 per cent from the last fare review in January, and is largely due to a fall in energy costs. "

"We know that energy costs have come down, as compared to 2012 ... The maximum that is allowed for this particular fare increase will be 2.8 per cent," said Mr Lui said in an interview with Channel NewsAsia (CNA).

The fare formula is based on four components - core CPI (consumer price index) inflation, average wage increase, energy index, and productivity index.

dunno how they calculate...

CPI - surely increase cos inflation

Wage increase - maybe stagnant for most or probably a few %

Energy index - already dropping like grapes but how much is its weightage?

Productivity index - will increase by pumping in more foreigners

overall, the fare will increase... rubbish

1 component inside CPI is transportation cost.

Inside transportation cost has bus fare, train fare + private car.

Private car cost increase insanely. Poor people taking public transport must also pay more to be fair. We are one people. One nation.

[laugh]

bus fare increase wil cause CPI to incease.

So, this will ensure the bus fare will forever increasing.
