Ingenius Turbocharged October 22, 2015 Share October 22, 2015 Yesterday, uber driver told me he kenna stuck in 2 hrs jam from Tractor road to ION. Passenger pays $40. $40 for 2 hours is reasonable. ↡ Advertisement
Fcw75 Hypersonic October 22, 2015 Share October 22, 2015 (edited) bro, means driver can "reset" ? But I thought new trip is thru app ? Sorry bro, just saw your msg. No, the driver cannot reset. Don't worry. Because hub n mona typed: For the Uber app, it seems like point A to B? Is it correct that to go to a point C, you need to start new trip from B to C and so on? Appreciate if Uber drivers can shed some light. So I said no need to start new trip. But driver more than willing to start new trip coz can earn 1 extra base fare but which rider will want that. That's what I meant. Edited October 22, 2015 by Fcw75

Kusje Supersonic October 22, 2015 Share October 22, 2015 I haven't tried uber yet but according to my friend who done a trip with uber from Yishun to Marina sq., he said that commuter only need to pay what is quoted on the "Fare estimated" regardless how long the trip takes... for example: if Fare Estimated is $15-$20, the maximum you will be charged is $20 even though the trip last an hour. this is to discourage driver to take a longer route and their sweet own time to ferry the commuters. is that right? if yes, then I saw a post stating "Uber charges are based on base + distance + time components. " So how does this time component kick in and when? Wrong. No fixed charge for uber. 1

13177 Hypersonic October 23, 2015 Share October 23, 2015 I believe if demand is high, uber still same as taxi where either you have to pay very high fare or cannot get a ride.
Jayy25 6th Gear October 25, 2015 Share October 25, 2015 Bro, think about it. If suay suay kenna massive jam for 1 hr, you as a uber driver still get paid only fare ESTIMATE of $20 u want do? I am not saying you but sometimes ignorance can be a scary thing. . Well that is why I am enquirying how true is that...so according to you, fare may be higher than what is quoted the fare estimated but how can we consumers know how much is the fare at real time? At least we can see on a taxi meter if we stuck in the jam but for uber how it works? Where can we see the fare at that moment? Or simply pay the total fare at destination? If it is the latter then it is rather ambiguous, isn't it as we will not know the actual fare and may be taken for a ride

If it is the latter then it is rather ambiguous, isn't it as we will not know the actual fare and may be taken for a ride Unfortunately you can't see the fare in real time, you the rider and me the driver will only know it when the trip ended. Taken for a ride meaning what? Going longer way or stucked? To be frank, I rather do 10 trips than be stucked in jam with the same person. I would be able to get 10 base fare of $3.50 each and my trip per hour incentive will be good. You can also request for the ride to end and hop off if you feel uncomfortable, same with if you feel uncomfortable seeing the taxi meter jump. To sum it up, no you cannot see the fare in real time.
13177 Hypersonic October 26, 2015 Share October 26, 2015 If the estimated fare is shown before you request for the ride, guess even you are stuck in the jam, the fare would not be too far off from the estimated fare, right? ↡ Advertisement
