VictorTQT 2nd Gear January 9, 2019 Share January 9, 2019 A GOOD car to renew COE is certainly not Cruze. One of the most popular cars is Altis, cheap to maintain, easy to get parts, reliable. I am very tempting to renew my altis but backside is a little itchy. However, it makes sense to renew COE now from financial point of view, and this is the best time to renew COE. For 35k all in all includinf COE and Parf, one can drive a car for another 10 years. It works out to be $300 per month depreciation, cheaper than taking bus. Besides Toyota Altis, I think the its competitor, Honda Civic, is also a popular car for COE renewal. However, one issue with Honda Civic is the PARF value is usually higher than the Toyota Altis by 2-3k.

VictorTQT 2nd Gear January 11, 2019 Share January 11, 2019 Which year 2009 Cat A (<1600cc) car has the widest rear seat? Corolla Altis Suzuki SX4 hatch back Nissan Sylphy Cruz Honda Airwave Allion/Axion Nissan Latio Mazda 3 Kia Cerato/ Hyundai Avante Others? Need to put 2 child seats and seat 2-3 adults in car Some of the dimension here for your easier comparison: Dimensions (L x W x H) Corolla Altis (4540 x 1760 x 1465) mm Suzuki SX4 hatch back (4135 x 1755 x 1605) mm Nissan Sylphy (4610 x 1700 x 1505) mm Cruz (4597 x 1788 x 1477) mm Honda Airwave (4350 x 1695 x 1505) mm Allion (4565 x 1695 x 1475) mm Axio (4410 x 1695 x 1460) mm Nissan Latio (4395 x 1695 x 1535) mm Mazda 3 (4580 x 1755 x 1470) mm Kia Cerato (4530 x 1775 x 1460) mm Hyundai Avante (4505 x 1775 x 1490) mm Honda Civic (4550 x 1750 x 1435) mm So from the width above, I think Toyota Altis, Honda Civic and Mazda 3 might be good choice. I have owned a Honda Civic and it is quite OK to put 1 car seat and 2 adults at the rear passenger seat.

Vinceng Turbocharged January 11, 2019 Share January 11, 2019 I would prefer to buy new car, looking at the recent downward COE n good deal offer by repective brands. Brand new car with few years of free servicing n warranty is very attractive. It's worth to buy brand new only if you get a budget car like the Mitsubishi Attrage, currently selling at $59K, so that the price difference betwen COE renewal and new car is minimal. When you buy a new car, you are paying all the additional taxes (ARF, CEVS) all over again.

StanKwek Neutral Newbie January 14, 2019 Share January 14, 2019 (edited) Hi all, Can i ask if Audi A4 is worth renewing? I am really confuse and in a deep dilemma. Mine is a 2009 Audi A4 MU 1.8L Turbocharged Engine, 6 Speed Multitronic Transmission. Mileage at 168k. I took over the car at 80k when it was 2 years old. Generally my condition is quite ok just needed some minor repairs if i were to renew. Anyone is driving an COE audi A4 or heard anything about COE A4 can share some light or advice? carloverguy2017 5th Gear January 14, 2019 Share January 14, 2019 I don't find it attractive , simply because the depre is not significantly lower than a brand new one. The depre per year for this is : COE portion 37419 / 5 = 7, 484 . Forgone parf value 10k ( assume omv 20k ) ; per year = 2k . Total depre per year about 9.5 k . Compared to a brand new Altis bought at same COE level $74, 838 , OMV 20k scrap 10k .. COE depre same 7,484. OMV 20k scrap 10k , body depre same per year 2k. Dealers profit assume 20k ie depre 2k per year. Total depre 11.5 k . If this is close to real life cost, I think this Altis I will throw away. $2000 annually, nothing to shout about. Get real, get new.
Albeniz Turbocharged January 17, 2019 Share January 17, 2019 Is year 2009 Subaru Impreza 1.5 a good car for 10 year COE renewal? Not as expensive as Altis, but not sure whether parts are more expensive?

The 1.5 version is underpower and poor FC. Rather u look at the 2.0 version.
Duststorm Neutral Newbie March 12, 2019 Share March 12, 2019 (edited) I’m a p-plate driver and looking to get my first car. More of point A to B needs. Is Mercedes B170 worth getting (10yrs COE, at ~$55k)? Or I should look at the more common Avante S (5yrs) or Airwave (5yrs)? Thanks in advance Edited March 12, 2019 by Duststorm
Ronleo 6th Gear March 12, 2019 Share March 12, 2019 Iâm a p-plate driver and looking to get my first car. More of point A to B needs. Is Mercedes B170 worth getting (10yrs COE, at ~$55k)? Or I should look at the more common Avante S (5yrs) or Airwave (5yrs)? Thanks in advance I’m no expert, but u might wanna consider a Toyota Vios for easy parking. Toyota Altis for Point A to B Toyota Camry since it’s same price as B-class. Easy to maintain, parts are plentiful.

Thanks in advance Altis 10 yrs COE at ~40k will be my choice, use the spare money to for repair (wear and tear parts) and renew the interior leather. The car will be as good as new.
Hamburger Hypersonic March 13, 2019 Share March 13, 2019 Its a different approach for me. For Coe car it has to be a Merc or bmw. Reason is simple. The car is not simply just a point A to B for me. ↡ Advertisement
