Sunset73 5th Gear February 4, 2015 Share February 4, 2015 Slightly OT:- Wonder if any leasing company offers rotation of different models if the customer signs a 5-year lease ie he gets to drive different models say every 6 months or so under the same lease? Good for customers who like to 'taste' different models I tried asking.. but somehow.. not possible.. hahaha.. But I came across 1 company who claimed that they allow.. I think they do car rental and do leasing at the same time.. but for new cars.. I don't think possible. ↡ Advertisement
Ingenius Turbocharged February 4, 2015 Share February 4, 2015 If you own a car anytime you can disown it by selling , but if you lease you are tied down during the contract period. Also, for leasing the car plate has the word 'xxx leasing pte ltd' which is not so nice.

Maybe some people don't like it because of ego but I am perfectly fine with it :) Depends on individual needs also Edited February 4, 2015 by Sunset73

Good for customers who like to 'taste' different models Read from the other thread (the one which involves sending a letter to CASE) that VW owners get to "try" different VW models after buying one; their cars get sent back to the workshop so often and they get to drive a different replacement car (of different model) each time. So maybe can try if VW has any leasing arrangements available?

Fastfive1 5th Gear February 4, 2015 Share February 4, 2015 Don't know about you, I don't usually ask people how they got their cars :) If ppl ask me i will say i stole it. Anyway i am not talking about supercars or what, could be just the latest hot model like Vezel, Harrier or some BMW, Merc or Audi which are not uncommon in SG. Unless of course i am already KNOWN to be poor among my friends then in which case there would be no bragging rights to begin with. You know how some people are. They'll ask "eh monthly how much ah?". I like the fact that I can say "Monthly? What talking you? This car is paid in full."

Why can't they just ask how much is it?

SafeCar 1st Gear February 5, 2015 Share February 5, 2015 Curious why no one call, or call but did not inform here? This is not the leasing scheme where you get a replacement car if car got problem, no need to do car service, etc. Their lease is you pay deposit, lease for 5 years, premature penalty applies, car register in company's name and hence car insurance $2k+ and you pay this insurance amount, you pay for road tax, you pay car servicing, petrol, etc, etc. Buy back price determine at end of 5 years. Do the maths and you'll end up paying much more. If you see deal that is too good to be true, ask and ask.

Everything in. No deposit at all. $2000 for a brand new Kia K3 for 5 years lease. Includes replacement vehicle, maintenance, road tax, insurance
Wt_know Hypersonic February 6, 2015 Share February 6, 2015 (edited) there is "real" leasing program with sustainable business model for real needs there is "not so real" leasing program simply to circumvent downpayment as their core business is not car leasing anything is boleh ... can workout a plan even the car you want was not in the leasing program Edited February 6, 2015 by Wt_know

But on one hand, I feel that the consumer tend to lose out more. Imagine you pay for servicing, road tax and insurance but end of the lease car is not yours. If I go through a "proper" lease, I pay 1 lump sum for the lease term. End of the day car not mine also not so heart pain.
Wildfaye29 Turbocharged February 6, 2015 Share February 6, 2015 Leasing vy common in europe. In sg, face matters la. Must be 'owned' even thou not owned. End of 10 yr, still not yours, how can be owned?
Wt_know Hypersonic February 6, 2015 Share February 6, 2015 leasing is very popular in usa and europe because the "habit" is live paycheck-to-paycheck no work no paycheck ... straightaway can tow the car ... as simple as that Leasing vy common in europe. Wildfaye29 Turbocharged February 6, 2015 Share February 6, 2015 (edited) For myself, simple. Roof more impt. Car is on rental basis. 'Renting' since 2004. Doesnt matter to me whether got residual value, becos once loan breakeven, means can chg without topup. Max rent amt is $1k per month for me. Other expense $500 per mth. Every mth $1.5K include loan repayment, ins, road tax, fuel, svc, etc) If I can lease @ $1,500 exclude fuel. I think its gd to go for me. Fuel cost abt $300 per mth for me. The lessor must earn some money, so $300 goes to lessor per mth. Edited February 6, 2015 by Wildfaye29 ↡ Advertisement
