Kusje Supersonic February 10, 2015 Share February 10, 2015 No big deal man... you just look at the frozen chicken parts on sale in the supermarkets, slaughtered almost 3 to 4 months ago... I remember reading somewhere where it was claimed that SAF has 2 years worth of food supply. So unless they routinely throw food away, we have been eating 2 year old meat (I presume they will only feed us those that about to reach the end of the storage life). So unless they routinely throw food away, we have been eating 2 year old meat (I presume they will only feed us those that about to reach the end of the storage life). The food supply is Combat Rations lah... not fresh foods from SFI/SATS. Those are disposed daily even if it's not cooked. That's why food poisoning is a very serious case in SAF, cos means the direct caterer at the cook house never follow hygiene protocols. Too often very easy 'license' tio kantong one. Anyway bak kwa is just preserved meat mah... last time rong rong time ago, no fridge only can preserve meat to extend 'shelf life', that's how we arrived at food stuff like Lup cheong and then bak kwa. Want to eat no scared, want to scared no eat. Wouldn't die...... so early one lah...
Maxus-MIFA9 Supersonic February 10, 2015 Share February 10, 2015 I'm not the one that usually pays for it so I don't know the prices. What's the price difference between normal and peak season? Normal days $38 ~ $46 per/Kg CNY from $42/- per Kg onward depending on the brand ...
StefanK Supercharged February 10, 2015 Share February 10, 2015 Normal days $38 ~ $46 per/Kg CNY from $42/- per Kg onward depending on the brand ... And Pineapple Tarts are at a average of $0.80 - $0.85/pc in a 25pcs packing. Must go learn how to make Pineapple Tarts already... so that I can afford to eat them in the future... Anyway, if I find the article on SAF food stockpiles, I will share it here.

Anyway, if I find the article on SAF food stockpiles, I will share it here. I am sure. Cos my friend's mother work in SFI and the cookhouse manager lets them take home all the uncooked foods. And the cookhouses I've been to do not have proper storage for storing of uncooked food (no industrial freezers). I've not been to SFI or SATS main plant, so I cannot say that the trucks come collect from the cookhouses and then bring it back to the main plant. But the fact is also, I've never seen them doing it before since the trucks reach SAF camps filled and leave empty. Well... why are we talking about this? Anyone been to the bak kwa factory at Woodlands Loop for their factory sale???

The meat is supposedly stored for up to 2 years before being distributed to the different cookhouses. Bak Kwa at woodlands - Been there a couple of times but didn't buy anything (was there visiting the other food factories). I think it is supposedly slightly cheaper than retail? I was in charge of the cookhouse in NS and I indented the rations weekly. They will store the frozen food in the freezer.

If one like good food n see a long queue, sure it won't be wrong to join in 😛 I don't have much patience. I would avoid food stores with long queue be it how good it is. Occasionally, I see ppl queue at fast food restaurant, Telcos, food stores etc etc... Unless queue already can huat, otherwise I would nvr join any queue..
