What if it's an E-Class coupe? [idea]

All end up looking almost the same liao

I like the direction they went with the "organic" design, but honestly, I think they need to have more variation in the fascias. Now all got almost identical shape clusters for headlamps/tail lamps.

But actually thats quite common for many other companies.

They need to milk the design and create more efficient production lines to minimise cost.

Moreover they know that there will be folks like me we cant afford the S so can at least get the E....

If I buy a S-, I don't want a C- or E- to look like it.... or a Hyundai/Kia to look like it leh...

Now C-, E, S- all look alike, just like A3, A4, A6, A8.

Some family resemblance is fine, even good... but if they look almost identical, completely, then it is no good liao.

Like currrently, C-class yes, look like "mini S-Class", but you can still identify the two at a distance looking only at front/rear, don't have to go to the side to see how long they are to be sure.

The new E-class sedan is going to look almost identical sia. The previous gen facelift at least the front headlamps got different shape.

CLA vs CLS at least the bumper detailing and lighting clusters different la...

i find it strange that they put swarovski crystals at the DRL and proudly advertise the association

i mean come on, swarovski is just glass (not real crystal mind you) and S Class is the top luxury end of Merc

i think it is quite common practice for car makers to launch a marquee top end model and then everything below basically just rides on its success, e.g. Mazda 6, BMW 7 series

the only one I think look different is maybe Camry vs Altis

in any case, it is supposed to be a 'design language' of the current generation

For Mercedes, it's typical for the S-Class to be their moving tech demonstrator, eventually its technology will trickle downwards. Same for 7-series... but in the end BMW is probably getting the most success from their 3-series.

Mercedes, going forward, it seems that although the W205 C-Class is derived from S-Class, in the long term the C-Class is actually going to be the real basis for the visual design moving forward. The S-Class coupe looks like a stretched C-Class coupe and all models going forward look like they are going to have a very similar light design to that set by W205, rather than the current S-Class.

Er... W205 copied s class. The current s class sedan is the origin of how c, cla, gla etc look

Yes, I know. W205 is derived from S-Class as I say. What I mean is that the upcoming models aesthetics seem to be derived more from W205 than S Class, but of course it still means the S class is the progenitor.
