Fishy 4th Gear February 16, 2016 Share February 16, 2016 I could not secure an interview when i was moving out of engineering to finance. Then finally 1 interview came and I was optimistic and elated. Went for interview, the director told me I had no experience and might not be able to cope with the work. Got me pissed off cos I took half day leave for interview and manufacturing only give 14 days leave. KNS and I questioned him - why interview me when he saw my resume and knew I got no experience? fark up director - lucky a better offer from an investment bank came along. thats before lehman bros :)

Really waste time going for such interview. I also kenna such interview before.
Spring Moderator February 16, 2016 Share February 16, 2016 Same like subscribing to your phone or tv plan, they usually give better package to new sign-up and ignore the existing subscribers. To add, on existing staff, customers getting a lousier deal..... FD also like that, banks prefer to give new clients better rate than give the better rates to their existing clients when FD is due for rollover. They want fresh funds. Till today I never understand this logic.......

I not happy as my money whilst not fresh is of same value as the fresh funds so i'll bother to transfer out to another bank just to spike the bank for not treasuring my money. Sorry for the OT......back to topic and yes existing staff treated as expandable, no one wants whilst employers pay the sky for newer, unproven ones haiz.....

Salary prob twice of mine however, he couldnt do shiit and end up boss asked me to do the work. actually could have avoided this if boss was smart enough to check for references... that guy got fired a few times before already! Went for some interview and was told no experience and expected pay too high. The moment i hear this, my whole attitude toward the interview session will become a chit chat session with a stranger liao.. Wasting everyone time just to get told no experience and asking pay too high. Can't even bother to read the CV submitted then why bother to arrange the interview?
IDrago 3rd Gear February 16, 2016 Share February 16, 2016 Worst Interview (China Oil Trading Firm) Interviewer started conducting interview in Mandarin, my mind reeled and I felt like a trapped mouse. Damn In my mind (Jiak Lak, I just wasted money parking at a CBD carpark!!) Most Funny Interview (Coal Trading Firm) Interviewer started commenting on how much more a coal trader makes as compared to an airline pilot, he then started a pilot bashing session In my mind (His chai must have zhao saied with a pilot !!) Best Interview (Biofuel Trading Firm) I described this experience of an extremely gorgeous, lovely and enchanting interviewer who offered me cold water (instead of the usual term ice water) in an earlier post. That post was damn detailed, long ago before MCF was revamped and I couldn’t find it now (nabei!!) and am too lazy to retype

Best Interview (Biofuel Trading Firm) I described this experience of an extremely gorgeous, lovely and enchanting interviewer who offered me cold water (instead of the usual term ice water) in an earlier post. That post was damn detailed, long ago before MCF was revamped and I couldn’t find it now (nabei!!) and am too lazy to retype I too would like to share one of the most peculiar interviews I have ever attended. This happened a couple of years ago when I just started working. I was in my 2nd organisation since graduating.. The interview was to be conducted jointly by the HR as well as the hiring department, intentional trading. When I arrived at the office, I was attended to by the HR exe... My god, she was gorgeous, typical Korean American profile ..... sharp features, high cheek bones, long lashes, a healthy tan, leggy, exuding a polished elegance..Doesnt look local at all, thou she is (her surname). ..... Can I get you something to drink? Coffee, Tea, Cold Water?.. Now, I am used to the term Iced Water, but Cold Water?!? It left quite an impression indeed!!! I was directed into the meeting room and lets name her C told me that she will be fetching the hiring manager K.. 15mins later, C came into the room and apologised that K will be ready in another 10mins and that she had forgotten my drink. She looked genuinely apologetic, a little flustered and was hiding her blushes with a sparkling, charming smile and a subtly mischievous glimmer in her eyes. 15mins later as the door opened, I swallowed nervously and steeled myself to encounter K ..I had envisioned that he will be a totally accomplished and polished gentleman!!! My god... Oh my God!!! K was the total opposite of what I had in mind... Hes like what the cat dragged into the house... Sloppy, unimpressive, greasy hair, typical China man uncle persona... Damn, he even looks stupid!!! And to think his shirt is probably tucked in at the last moment before stepping into the room!!! The first thing he said was Wah lao, you look much better than the mugshot in your resume leh! Duh!!! Singlish is fine, but Psst.. Its an interview!!! Believe me when I tell you that I had instantaneously lost interest in the job.....but not for long.....when the fragrant C popped right up beside K and sat down.. They started off by telling me about the company, the job, usual stuff.. The thing is, K keeps looking at C to take the cue whenever there is information to be presented. Its weird, cos C is from HR, yet she is detailing information way beyond her scope (commercial figures, trading strategies, competitor information). You know what I am saying? K is like totally clueless.. and he speaks like a moron too!! Ok, the other weird aspect (thou I enjoyed this immensely) was that I cant help but notice C eyeing me as she presents her stuff.. Its hard to describe, not the flirtatious way, just subtly, teasingly, totally still within professional boundaries and yet creating a magnetic drawing of my attention.. its like you know, her eyes talks, mine listens, connecting beyond the apparent stage.. shes good at that!!! Also, I really liked the way she smiles, very dignified, always at the right moment and oh so charming!! I cant help recalling C arching an eyebrow when China man K casually mentioned that I certainly looked better in person.. The perceived flattery was mildly intoxicating!! Next up, it was my turn to describe myself, what I had been up to, detail my accomplishments, milestones, competencies, reason for leaving my current job, etc.. C took notes and listened intently (still maintaining her charming disposition) K was bored, fidgeted a lot and I swore he was stifling a yawn. I was concerned about the geographical markets I would be assigned.. We have coverage in many countries and Oh, you can assist with Ks European Accounts since you stated your reason for leaving your 1st company to the 2nd as seeking challenges in new geographical territories in Europe...you must have like your work there C teased in good nature.. She was cheeky indeed, but I appreciate that and laughed my thanks.. Humorous interviewers are much better than stoned, poker faced ones that eyeballs you like an eagle. And so, we communicated further pertaining to the job and the (dare I say) sexual tension keeps building up with increasing amount and magnitude of witty and mischievous banters..Again, its all within professional boundaries... Both of us got so immersed into the session that its like casual chit chat with long time friends, the barrier isnt there anymore... K was quiet till the end, we didnt mind, we didnt care!! I sent an appreciation note to C & K the next business day...A couple of days later, I received a note from C.... I lost the job, not even making it for a 2nd round interview... They were looking for someone with at least 3 years relevant experience, I barely had 2, half of which wasnt even related... She thought I did great thou, further detailing that I had style, but confessed that I lacked substance and depth in the industry..Well, substance can be developed but style is an innate given which isnt easy to cultivate, she wrote.. I was thankful for that!! She graciously furnished names of several organisations and told me to try applying for them if I am really keen in the industry like how I described. I ended up working for one of their competitors!! Lol.. Not surprisingly, C got herself transferred into Intentional Trading subsequently and excels there... she deserved her success, has great aplomb and creates magic!! China man K got booted out of the company at a later stage, which doesnt surprise me at all.. Now guys, if anyone ever encounters a lovely lady offering Cold Water with a megawatt smile on your next interview, chances are, thats C !!!
