What CSJ said make lots of sense, there is already 81 PAP MPs in Parliament, no different to have that 1 or not. But bring him in, and he can create hell out of it, or rather speaks up for the the people...LOL

I seriously look forward to what CSJ can come out with in Parliament.

Agreed with you. I know of an agent who owns a $10million factory in Singapore but abuse the system. Because they can use company name so they don't appear on the Social welfare radar as high earners. They go community centre to collect free laptops given to the less fortunate and many more things.

How got people like that? Worse when they already got so much? I believe there are many many more just like that.

err... many people worth tens of millions will insist on applying scholarship for their children.. if say they are just after the prestige, they can jolly well offer to pay back the few hundred thousand and just keep the "scholar" title... but they wont... who's worst?

Those usually pay back the bonds and penalty immediately upon return.

People usually have issues with them not serving out their bonds and mocking the system with their $$$. At the same time depriving other deserving but less wealthy peers of the opportunity to receive a good prestigious university education and keen to serve the public sector.

If they have stayed and served out their bonds in the public sector, I will think is more acceptable to the general public.

Well, anything that can happen will happen. I don't see why it will not happen.

A modern way of preventing the poor from raising up!!!

Similar to no discipline of child the west propose... A way to keep the hierarchy caste system in place.

I believe there is a difference between scholarship and bursary. In the former, scholarship is given out based on meritocracy and may the best guy or gal wins despite their finances of social status. On the other hand, bursary, is given out to those who are financially challenged.

In the latter, bursary, you should asked why in NUS many foreigners are given not only scholarship but also bursary to study here in Singapore.

In the case where I gave the example of the "rich" who can afford but break rule / find loopholes to fight to obtain advantage that is designated for the poor. That kind of behaviour I believe many cannot accept especially when here in Singapore we got nothing but ourselves.

I am actually in agreement with everything you wow. .. esp on the NUS thingy.

But I go further on the scholarship thing.

If we do means testing for life saving medical precedures, why not for bank enriching scholarships? ?

Of cos a millionaire can apply scholarship for his kid, but pay for it themselves.

If they are just after the prestige, screw them.

If they really intend to serve, hey its a golden rich rice bowl already.

No way should tax dollars be use to finance the career path of some rich fella kids.

Money saved can be put to much better use. Or we just get more entitled Miss Wee elite face types cos they will win.

Actually. . I hhave in mind our many mega tax payer million politicians whose children are on public funded scholarships. .

Either we still under pay them, their children need more advantages to succeed. .. or is just the ordinary folks who should not be asking for hand outs to eat at restaurants. .

Since plan for BB already in the pipeline and Murali is just repeating what is already planned, so if Murali don't get voted in, I assume the plan for BB will still be carried out. RIght? Wrong?

So if residents care about planned for BB, what is the benefit of having Murali for added value.

CSJ if he continues to improve soon as a smooth talker, he may be able to get people to drop trousers at his command.

Heng ah. got wear underwear today.

yea but underwear not going to be able to hide the cum stain... :=B:

This is open secret. We all know why they do that. We can understand and at times agree... If the number is not too Hugh.

Of course the problem is the number is high which resulted in them having enclave mentality.

I think autonomous schools also have target to hit. They have to recruit a number of these scholars every year. When I was in sec school, my principal always go China and Malaysia to look for these scholars.

Since when Singapore believe in grooming? Here we only believe in digging, let others groom and we just dig it over. Don't plant from a seed, find out which tree bare the best fruits, and bring that whole tree over. Instant talent...LOL
