Silver_blade Turbocharged November 3, 2017 Share November 3, 2017 I also travel light now. Either a Leica Q or A6300 if I am taking photos that require a zoom lens eg. whale watching, safari, etc. Occasionally, I will M4/3 D-Lux (typ109) if I want some thing small and can fit into jacket pocket. ↡ Advertisement
therock Supersonic November 3, 2017 Author Share November 3, 2017 Anyone have any recommended lens rental shops? i went for my girl's concert for the first time this year. She's K1. I only have a 24-120mm F4 and i was seated further back. Next year will be her final kindy concert, so want to take some nice photos while she's performing (no videos needed as got official dvd). Thinking of renting a 70-200mm F2.8 VRII Want a 80-200 VR 2.8 and a 2x teleconverter?:)
Lala81 Hypersonic November 3, 2017 Share November 3, 2017 4 to 2.8 is only 1 stop down. Not gg to make much of the difference. 1/30 maybe quite slow or just nice to take moving things. If ur camera can take photos at 6400 iso or higher without much noise, i would just bump up the iso and save a couple hundreds of dollars. Or just take slightly under expose raw shoots and adjust the expose in post. Just my thoughts.D600. Max iso is 6400.Hmm alternative is get a 85mm f1.8 then crop The cost is ok lah. 50+ per day. Want a 80-200 VR 2.8 and a 2x teleconverter? :) Thanks for the offer. Will let u know next year hahaha
Nzy Twincharged November 3, 2017 Share November 3, 2017 I am looking for a P&S camera now, my wife nag every time we go travel with the bulky DSLR and lens Why my wife opposite. Always make me bring the big cameras out and ask me take nicer pics of her. She almost bought the 80D, luckily I convinced her that the A6300 has better image quality than the 80D. a6300? (or issit a6500 already) Hmm i need to buy a hoya filter for my camera. haha cracked it the last time i went korea. Just dump into a normal backpack with no protection. Nowadays i just bring my 50mm to go overseas. can't be bothered liao lol a6300 and a6500 not much difference except for the IBIS and touch to focus. I'd rather get the a6300 and use the $400+ to $500 savings to get a nice lens.
ins1dious Turbocharged November 4, 2017 Share November 4, 2017 just a short performance, so lens weight not really an issue. concert so dimmed lights etc. I think need F2.8 to improve the shutter speed at a not too noisy ISO. I was using 1/30, F4 with VR and my ISO was already 3200. I like these guys. Easy to check specs, price and to reserve. http://sg.camerarental.biz

Lala81 Hypersonic November 4, 2017 Share November 4, 2017 (edited) Nowadays, even newspapers and TV stations are cutting budget. A lot of news and even some TV shows are shot on mobile devices or portable cameras like Go Pro. Go interview, just one or two person team, presenter is also the camera man, is also the producer. They can stream the video or pictures live back to the station, everywhere they go. In the past, you need a whole van and team to do satellite news gathering. yeah just pay a bit of money for a good gimbal stabilizer and a good boom mic, already look quite professional if there's good lighting. Atonchia Supersonic November 4, 2017 Share November 4, 2017 Stuff like the Sony RX100, Panasonic LX100 and even the Fuji's x100 is showing robust sales. It's only the small, compact point and shoots that languishing in sales. Nikon and Canon always crimped their mirrorless efforts so that it doesn't compete with their bigger DSLR brothers... whatever happened to Nikon's V1? No sound about that system at all... Of course... the sales of all of them, whether DSLR or Mirrorless... is a drop in the ocean compared to the number of cameras on smartphones ð Agree, much more compact than DSLR. Similar image quality for display on laptop, hp and TV. I have been using my RX100 more than my DSLR. Can immediately send to phone and whatsapp or send social media bus wireless.
Lala81 Hypersonic November 5, 2017 Share November 5, 2017 Guys, I am writing up a travel blog and doing some photography posts. Below is a sample of what I will be doing. https://flyingmummy.com/wp/2017/11/03/taking-photos-of-mount-fuji/ Any suggestions of what to include to make it more useful and interesting? Is the google map pic useful or should I just include a google map link so it does not intrude so much? I think the Google map Pic looks good. Better than just a link. Looks more professional.
