I might be getting the Phillips White light which i have been told is LTA compliant.

your bulb should be a H4 right? hi and low beam in one bulb?

 

just get a normal replacement at any workshop. there aren't many good and bright replacements for H4 that can last long AND is brighter.

 

if you drive NSHW often, stay away from white lights. you won't be able to see a thing when it rains.

that yellow tone will allow you to see more. that's why street lamps glow yellow/orange.

Why so many new car models now come with the whitish LED lights?

 

For my previous ride I changed to 6000k HID the light throw was further but not necessarily any brighter than stock 4000k halogen.

Hi All,

 

I'm driving a '08 Toyota Axio which i bought about 2 months ago.

During a recent drive to KL and back, i realised the headlights are not bright enough especially during the stretch when there are no streetlights.

 

I would like to change the headlights to something with is LTA compliant. I saw there are tonn of LED headlights but need to change back to stock during the inspection. I'd rather not take the trouble and change to something which is compliant and brighter than the current.

 

Let me know if you have any suggestions.

Before you go and change your bulb, check is your headlamp clear. For a '08 model some will turn cloudy/yellowish...

Get yellow light. Not white LED light. Yellow has the best light throw.

 

Bright and light throw are 2 different things.

 

The light may be bright, but not necessarily has the far throw. It's only look bright and has v short throw.

 

If u wan to see far, then get yellow light. White are useless

Proper implementation of LED have a throw beyond any halogen implementation and can see very far in poor weather. But trying to convert a halogen bulb based headlamp to match is difficult.

Hmm, dun quite understand why need such a bright headlights in Sg.. So brightly lit up everywhere. Unless you travel up north frequently.. I only know dun change anything unless it's spoilt.

HID and LED lights appear whiter because the light is denser, and real extra lumens are produced.

 

If the halogen is white because there's a blue tint to it, then the lumens are actually filtered off...

In the early days of HID, everyone would give way coz of the intense white light... not anymore... hahaha

That time Concorde accessories has a last pair and was selling at a steep discount. Think $30 nia.
