Slamstop in singapore

Even if it's not fully close, it still won't swing open while driving. There's still another safety lock. Unless one outright leave the door with a 5cm gap, the door won't open la. Anyway an alarm notification should be enough.

It's very classy and atas feature if it came included.

But other than it not waking up a sleeping kid in the car, got benefit?

I guess it's not something i would really look out for in a car or pay extra to retrofit.

Harrier Door not heavy,no need this....

My doors pretty heavy due sound proofing. So was thinking of this gadget.

Like this! All cars sold in Singapore should have this gadget as standard requirements!

Sorry, I meant my house front door, like this.

Yes, it's reliable and practical. Provided you have the 2 adjustment for speed of closing and latching. [:p]

For SUVs and sedans with autotailgate/boot, there is no need for this.

My previous lexus sedan do not have auto boot closing or opening, but it does have a soft closer. the major benefit is that when you close the boot, there is no need to slam hard to ensure latching. Just let it drop down by it's own weight and it will trigger the mechanism to pull the door close tightly and latched.

It was useful for me since I cross a security check point every morning where you have to open your boot for them to check while you can be sitted in your driver seat. The security personnel seem to know the various car model boot functions pretty well. So I don't get a slamming earful when they close the boot after inspection.

Got this in my car..... at the boot only....Don't know why...

Sometimes the intention is good but the method is wrong.

If the car is designed to have a soft closer, the car manufacturer would have incorporated it in their design and taken account of all possible safety issues. These days, cars are getting more intelligent, if your door is not closed properly, the car will warn you and some don't even allow you to travel up to a certain speed if your door open warning is ignored.

Does this soft closer put every single retrofitted car through the EuroNCAP crash test? The workshop installer went through how many months of training with the manufacturer so that they know where to cut and install the devices without affecting the structural integrity of the car?

If you are talking about aesthetic/sound enhancement to the car, by all means you can go to these ICE installers to have them gut out and modify the interior of your car. Just make sure they do not obstruct the airbags deployment with whatever they fiddled with.

If the intention is for the comfort of your passengers, just get a vellfire/alphard with the auto door slide function while they travel in business class comfort while you become the chauffeur.

Mine does have auto boot closing and soft closing.

Find it rather unnecessary.. and those people who don't know of the function will tend to yank it down, probably stressing the motor in the long term.

One thing about these electronic things.. If they break down the car can't be driven cos boot can't be latched

Mine was like this. Have a strap that was linked to a retracting motor within the rear parcel shelf of the car. Even if the person doesn't know and still slams the boot, the motor is not affected since the force is not transmitted to the motor. Of course one more moving part is one more wear and tear item waiting to fail.

The site supposed to be sharing the experience of having such great gadget not diverted to user's itchy backside...
