Hi,

It seems tat d Borneo Motors harrier does not come with built-in GPS? We need to use our phone gps (connect to d head unit). Can someone confirm tis?

 Tks!

Alex.

It is supposed to use your smartphone GPS (Google Maps or Waze or Apple Maps) projected to the screen via Apple Carplay or Andriod Auto.

Which is 10x better than any native navigation capability in the headunit.

Change to a better set of speakers will help greatly

The sound system is horrible. Speakers are cheap and cannot play the full range. Tune down the low bass from 0 to 60hz to zero or below. Cheap speakers cannot handle low bass and it will cause more distortions. Tune down the high freq from 1khz and above to 1 to 3... Otherwise sound will be too bright. Try this.

I am also considering changing my speakers and would welcome any suggestions. Will probably leave the HU alone for now or maybe add another amp down the road.

I am a newbie when it comes to ice and would appreciate some hand holding from gurus here on the best bang for buck upgrade. OK with second hand as well. Thks

Best is to hear other people’s setups to get an idea of what kind of speakers you like.

If your HU is removable and can be changed, do it because it’s the source.

if the source is crap, a good set of amps will amplify the crap and a good set of speakers will also sound crap.. if u know what I mean.

if it’s not removable, then a DSP cum amp with a simple 2-way active setup and a 10” passive sub will improve the sound without breaking the bank.

Been driving the Turbo Harrier for slightly over 2 years. Recently encountered a few minor problems:

1) auto sensing wiper doesn't go from intermittent to continuous wiping as the rain gets heavier.

2) Loud creaking sound when the auto boot closes towards the end.

3) Bubbles appearing at the Harrier emblem.

Wonder if any owners face the same issues? Also how long did the car battery last? Mine was changed once Foc during the first year of servicing.

Especially with car camera running in parking mode.

Many do not understand that lead acid batteries do not like to be drained like that. Kills them faster.

Not sure if any Harrrier owners felt that the brakes sometimes are high and sometimes are low.

Especially after servicing the brakes are high, able to bite easily.

However after like 2 to 3 weeks, the brakes are back to low. Could it be my master cylinder not working well?

I cannot seems to get a solution from BM, they showed me the brakes force measurement are well to specs.

Helping my friend post about his car here..

2.0T Harrier, Dec 2018, less than 1yr old

Why his FC so bad? 1 tank hardly hit 300km

Is this considered a lemon? Any case for lemon law?

He been to BM numerous time, but each time they say no fault found.

Average efficiency cannot be used to form any conclusion. You need the min/max. Ask your friend to drive on expressway at light traffic conditions for 30-40 mins and note down the trip consumption, then reset and drive on normal road for around the same time. This should give better indication of whether the car has a problem.

But every full tank is around the 300km range, is that even normal?

300km of school runs? Lots of idling and waiting with engine on, short journeys and stop-start traffic perhaps?

If it is normal commute I assume 8-10km/l is acceptable.

Do a tank to tank measurement to be sure the FC indicator is accurate.

The conditions under which the full tank is used is important. A question must have context to get an effective answer. For example, if I solely use my car to travel back and from my workplace which is 3 km away but through close to 10 traffic light junctions, i would be pretty happy to be able to go 300 km per full tank. Conversely, if i need to transit from east to west of singapore daily i would be pretty upset with the same efficiency.

So, do share your friend's usage patterns.

Most probably the TL will blame it friend instead of the QC of the car.

Hi yip,

300km/tank cannot be normal for seeming many tanks after a period of ownership and not consistent and exceptional idling.

It is 60l tank and even my worse case of "bad FC" awd forester xt on default 100% sport mode and no stop/start with 55l tank does 350km on a bad week of full city driving and about 400km typically.

Cheers.

Richard
