Auntie lead police on 18km chase from Arab St to Pasir Ris

SINGAPORE - A 64-year-old woman was arrested for drink driving after leading police on a car chase from Arab Street to Pasir Ris.

The police told The Straits Times on Saturday (Dec 9) that they received a call for assistance along Arab Street at 11.05pm on Thursday.

ST understands that a member of the public had noticed the woman driving erratically and called the police.

However, when police arrived, she evaded arrest and instead led the police on a car chase. Shin Min Daily News reported on Saturday that the chase went for up to 18km.

ST understands the woman drove against the flow of traffic in Pasir Ris, before being apprehended by the police.

She was arrested for suspected drink driving and police investigations are ongoing.

No one was injured in the process.

The maximum penalty for driving while one's alcohol level is over the legal limit is a $5,000 fine or six months' jail on a first conviction, and 12 months' jail on a subsequent conviction. Those convicted will also be disqualified from driving for at least 12 months.

3 injured car after car crashes into Marine Terrace market, driver arrested

SINGAPORE — The driver of a car that crashed into a stall at Marine Terrace market has been arrested for causing grievous hurt through a negligent act.

The incident at Blk 50A Marine Terrace on Saturday (Dec 9) afternoon left three people, aged between 30 to 50 years old, injured. The three casualties — one of whom was unconscious — were sent to Changi General Hospital, the police said in a statement on Saturday.

Former food stall owner Goh Seng Koon, 74, was sitting and chatting with an egg seller in the market when he heard a loud crash at about 12.30pm. "It sounded like a fridge falling, and a few people starting shouting for help," said Mr Goh.

The Marine Terrace resident later realised that a white car had rammed into a flower stall, hitting the female boss and her stall assistant whom he knew.

Mr Goh said the flower boss was lying unconscious, and the stall assistant was seen with a bloodied leg.

"Thankfully the morning market crowd was thin at the time. There is usually a lot of people here in the morning," he told TODAY.

Wah, zhun zhun crashed in between the bollards. I find the bollards installed too wide apart. Maybe meant to stop lorry only.

Well, I don't really care what people think.

Just do the right thing.

Who knows, you might even help a driver to smooth his emotions instead of being a road rage driver later. Indirectly you saved lives. [laugh]

Agreed

It is usually safer to ride side by side. That will force incompetent driver to take more space to overtake.

Our road is full of incompetent drivers

To being safe then it will be better to stay off the roads n cycle on a cycling path.

N if all cyclist tink the way u say then as a motorist all will also tink likewise n wouldn’t gv chance to cyclist Liao.

Every road user Jst needs to be more careful n graceful. If kana horn Jst wave Thks n tink of it as a form of saying I am beside u. Don’t be defensive n gv the middle finger (most always do so). This r ass on the road.

Bottomline, dont cycle like u own the road. Cycle like u r a motorist n u will know how the motorist feels.

It was the bike changing lane and side swiping the Wish!

Bike generally has nearly no blind spot because the mirror is quite close to the rider that would provide him with a extremely wide viewing angle, there is also no A pillar to obstruct the rider's view unlike that of a car. If that poor guy did pay attention, he should not have missed such a big mpv around him Edited by Ct3833
