For most of the global cars, you can get a pretty good indication of likely VES impact from the website - http://www.nextgreencar.com/.

 

For most cars, the bottleneck is the NOX rating.

 

If the NOX indications on the website are accurate, most of the small capacity turbos and diesel vehicles will be hardest hit, because they tend to be low CO2 (which fits CEVS) and high NOX.

 

SGD15 - 20k increase is par for the course for mid-sized cars with decent power, for the most part. In fact, for Audi A4 1.4 turbo it looks like a SGD30k turnaround (SGD10k rebate to SGD20k surcharge).

 

Can hardly blame the ADs here - think they are as bamboozled as the rest of us. For those who bought this year, just need to be thankful. Next year will be a different game.

Some cars also relatively unchanged. Wish is one example. Any price movements will be attributed almost directly to COE movements.

Not only small Turbo Cars,the Gov't wanted "Car Lite",also reduce oue Carbon Footprint,means wanted Citizens to take Public Transport,but too bad our SMRT keep breaking down.

If it's really a emissions issue, promoting electric vehicles would be the answer, but you need to invest in infrastructure like charging stations and drastically reduce taxes on electric vehicles to equalize the cost vs internal combustion vehicles.

 

None of which the govt is doing in a commercially meaningful way.

 

And hard to see how massively increasing the cost of a Prius is helping in that regards either.

 

So it's a thinly (and not very well) disguised tax increase that is levied under the pretense of pollution reduction.

 

And with all due respect, your propagating that fiction of pollution reduction does not help expand the discussion in a meaningful manner.

The PIs have the VES figures that LTA have not even released? Power lah!

 

When it comes to creative marketing, no one can beat the PIs.... Just wish they spend the same effort in making sure they don't run away with deposits or to provide real warranty for the cars they sell.

I do see a general improvement in the air condition over the years, especially st roadside.

Yes no need to worry.  actually some do.  Based on the picture above, Merc C200 better book now.  Price from 182k >> 208k in 2018.  Thats 26k jump.  Uniquely singapore.  How many forms of taxes are there.
