VES 2018

Honestly I would be curious to know how many cars that are more environmental friendly would be purchased next year with this VES. If garment can come out with a statistic to prove it that would be good.

 

But knowing how our garment work they probably wouldn't do it since the scheme I believe won't yield any victory for Earth.

 

Maybe they might prove it by coming out with an article one day in the state papers saying how a survey was done to conclude the scheme worked without saying the little fine prints that was present in their "survey"

"  The VES rebate[1] or surcharge for a car or taxi will be determined by its worst-performing pollutant. This is to encourage buyers to choose models that have lower emissions across all criteria and are cleaner overall, so as to further improve ambient air quality and thereby improve public health[2] (refer to Annex Afor Singapore’s air quality targets).

This VES is a joke.

 

They should give incentive to existing car owner to replace their old car to a more environmental friendly car.

Now, existing car owner can renew COE and avoid to pay VES.

So, more old cars on the road to generate more pollutants.

 

Moreover, the rebate reduce from $30k to $20k.

Is this the correct way to encourage people to own a environmental friendly car?

those who buy big big expensive cars that currently gana $30k will get to save $10k next year. happen to be those loaded ones get less tax than before. nice formula.

In the latest Borneo Motors price list, anyone notice there is no price differentiation between 2017 and 2018 registration now? And more interestingly, the latest price list shows that the Altis is now neutral!! Anyone know if it will be neutral or +$10K come 2018??

Yup before that they have two pricing. Now got new Vios also.

They merged CEVS & VES column into 1, all delivery 2018 except Vellfire / Alphard less 8k if delivery end 2017.

i noticed that as well. Maybe BM managed to keep the cars under neutral band after some tweaking,

Going to square one, why don't they encourage by giving more rebates to models with lower emission. Those higher emission much lesser rebates. This will also encourage buyers to go for the more rebates ones.  Thus, also further improve ambient air quality and thereby improve public health.
