The transfer is dependant on the target phone's app.  Most target phones will be able to transfer all the common android based source data (photos, music, videos, files etc..) over.  But any source data that is proprietary to the source phone brand may not get transferred over.

smart switch is the way to go, and if majority of the contents store in Google apps will make it easier, contact, calendar, photo, etc.

smart switch transfer everything including your wallpaper and app position in different pages. Only thing that need to follow up are whatsapp backup then restore, bank apps if you have to re-authentication.

Oic, sumsung to non Samsung. Never tried. All along using Samsung brand.

Goggle.

Yes, Smart Switch is compatible with non-Samsung phones. Whether your old phone is a Samsung, Galaxy, LG, iOS, BlackBerry, or Windows Mobile device, you can trust Smart Switch to smoothly transfer your data to your new Samsung phone or tablet. (Please note that the Samsung Smart Switch only functions when the target device is Samsung.)
