Seems like got trade off. Long term degradation of cartilage.

I think doctors have different views on it. See who you choose to believe.

Is cortisone injections safe?

Yes, cortisone injections is safe and have been commonly used to treat joint inflammation. Patients do not have to worry because the dose used is low. The steroid dose is a maximum of 3 grams per kilogram of body weight. If the patient is about 70 kilogram, he may have up to 210 gram of steroid dose. Normally, the doctor only use maximum about 10 milligram of the steroid mixture for an injection. In this example, this patient may have up to 21 times of this H&L injection according to his weight.  In conclusion, this injection can be repeated periodically depending on the severity of patients symptom. There is degradation especially with repeated injections. No doubt about it. Maybe not everyone knows cos this is only more widely reported within last few years.

But it's still something very useful cos it's one of the only things that can immediately reduce inflammation in a moderate to badly inflamed and swollen joint. And the effect is local. U can avoid oral steroids + reduce usage of NSAIDs.

The target population also matters.
For someone who's trying to avoid surgery, taking an injection for immediate relief is a no brainer cos usually it's already been swollen and painful for days or weeks before they come see you.

If u are talking to someone with milder pain and has a long road ahead of him/her in terms of her joint health, then maybe more issues.

All instructors should use a yaya stick like our RSMs. Multiple uses. Point to the equipment, poke or smack the client gently if they eat snake, adjust posture all can do. 😂 No real skin to skin contact.

I am not a PT, neither expert, just layman pov. From the video, i thought her hip extension with dumbbell was well executed, definitely the glutes was activated. I can't be sure if the pt's hand was helping, coz that's how I check if my glutes were activated when I ran last time. Ownself check ownself one.

 Her gluts confirm activated lah.
I think not outright wrong during this video but as a male doing this to a female, u need to be mindful of how the other party feels.
Bit inappropriate definitely.

Think just engage female coach for her.

Glutes is one thing oneself hard to know if it is activated or you are using other muscles. It's not like you know how to squeeze your abs, bicep, which are easy. How many of us know how to squeeze their glutes? That's why when i changed form to use glutes for running last time, i have to ownself feel if it  was tightening. Literally squeezing my own butt for a couple of seconds.

I didn't know how to activate before exercising it. But now it's really easy. Not that I have big gluts.

I think for those who do gym type, shouldn't be difficult lah.

When i had PT, he always squeeze my muscle to check whether it is activated or not.

That's why it is better to engage female coach for her.

Yes. But as a pro. U should already explain when and why u touch her beforehand. If she still feels awkward then u should touch less and work with what u are given lor.

A lot of trainers are not properly trained in this aspect.

Ya, maybe he should do this. " I will be checking your glute activation if it is alright"

During my practical lessons, we are taught:

1 ask permission first

2 explain to patient the area you will palpate/touch

3 use palm to touch firmly and slide to finger. Do not use finger to poke like buying meat.:XD:
