Different scope of work. I don't think it's within the TP scope of work. I could be wrong. But I know we have the Auxiliary Police whose scope is to enforce these.

There is legislation and fine for cycling more than 10 in a group. $150. Just that there is limited surveillance and enforcement.

You are right not even 50%. I would say not even 1%. There are so many roads and pavement in Singapore how do even cover 1% of them? And there are 24 hours a day. Do you expect auxiliary police to be stationed at even 1% of the roads at 3am?

It would be good to have high surveillance and enforcement. But at what cost? You sure that's what we want?

Legislation and fine is nothing without enforcement.

I don't expect to have enforcement at every road all the time, just the roads popular with the cyclists and at random basis. How often? as often as TP deploy mobile speed cameras to keep every drivers on their toes.

the cost of the enforcement should have been factored in when the AMAP finalize their recommendations. And before they agree to host the tour de Spore.

Fine: $150.

MOT accepted AMAP recommendation.  Accordingly, these recommendation are rules now

https://www.mot.gov.sg/news/press-releases/Details/government-accepts-recommendations-from-the-active-mobility-advisory-panel-to-enhance-road-safety

The problem is no enforcement despite being provided with the relevant information.

Agreed that maybe limited enforcement but could be also due to limited information. Which is why registration could be the way to go. I mean let's be honest...let's talk about the 25 Jun mass cycling...do you think just based on the video can they identify who the cyclists are? But if there's registration then it will be easier. But of course it could be fake number plate etc...so the problems doesn't end. Ultimately rules and limited enforcement reduce (I hope) but not eliminate.

But I also wish to add back to this statement I made.. "do you think just based on the video can they identify who the cyclists are?" Actually if they want they can but it depends on how serious the offence is and whether it's worth the effort to track them down.

i think problem now is if you ask any of the govt agencies TP/LTA/MOT who is in charge of enforcement, i doubt anyone can give you an answer. Don't even need to ask what govt budget has been put aside to fund the enforcement program/team.

I reckon isn't the enforcement but the inability to track down those cyclist. The infrastructures already in place with so many cameras on the road. Registration should be the way forward.

AMAP recommendation is usually after discussion with various interest groups.

The PROBLEM is Where is Car Owner Interest Group?

AAS does not necessarily represent car owners.

We can't say it's nothing without enforcement. I really think there are so much so much less illegal e scooters on the roads and pavements compare to before there was legislation. You may disagree though. But personally I felt so.

The problem with some cyclists go beyond these roads.

They are also a big menace within a housing estate. When they cycle along pedestrian footpaths, playgrounds, childcare center, in-between blks, etc the probability of causing a serious injury is real.

A good example is an elderly on wheelchair moving out from a lift. A cyclist going perpendicularly to the wheelchair bound elderly may very well kill him/her when they collide because there's not enough reaction time.

I've seen plenty of close shaves on footpaths near childcare centers. Irresponsible cyclists just make use of those footpaths like their KPE/PIE/CTE/KJE/BKE/ECP and when I brought this up with the authorities, they'll just shoot a standard reply saying that they can't do much because of wheelchairs.

This dangerous situation is the same as PMDs and no parents will want to see their kids injured in this way, elderlies as well.

Registration is to be done for all bikes as the liability from PCN/Pavement will be higher than those on the road.

Lastly, all PMDs are supposed to have a registration number.  Can you find it?

I think when they get the Automobile Association they thought it represent the motorists.

But actually they should also add MCF as an interest group. Ha ha we can give so much more suggestion.

PMD also got the registration number.  Can it be tracked?

What about facial recognition?

(edited)

Likewise if our ride (vehicle) doesn't come with reg nos. What would be our road going to be like for sake. 😓 It all boil down to registration equal to responsibility and accountability.

Want to find or don't to find only? Like I say it depends if it's serious. Say for example if the e-bike knock down someone and the person got hospitalized, with our extensive range of CCTV, I'm sure he can be tracked down. But if you report someone cycling above speed limit on pavement, they may not want to waste the resources to track the person down and after that get forensic to prove he's speeding based on the video.

Currently, only e-bike/PMD requires a license.  I don't think any enforcement other than on delivery guys only.

I agree that registration is the way to go. There may be other problems arising from registration but let's solved it one at a time.

Would MCF allows you to use its name?
