Do you have a practical way for 100% surveillance or 100% enforcement?

Do you expect every single road, pavement and walkway to have auxiliary police to ensure 100% compliance?

They can only random some locations and rotate among the locations for enforcement. And to be honest is the 25 June Telok Blangah Road cycling a known hot spot?

That is exactly what I am pointing out. Ppl comprain a lot but they dont seem to get that there cannot be 100% coverage on enforcement. Call it playing hide and seek or whatever. Problem will always be there.

Also I want to add, rules and certain level of enforcement helps reduce not eliminate.

Just like E-scooters, previously there really are a lot of them riding recklessly but there are less now. Not completely don't have, but much less.

We can't expect the govt or police to babysit every single person

I reckon should be along the line how task force categorised non vaccinated. All cyclist involved in any accidents should bear full medical costs 100%. Cash or personal insurance. 😁

Yes to that question. Very popular with the mamils.

He is not in charge of transport. But in his case it is good to have dialogue or conversations. Ppl get to understand where he is coming from.

Sadly those in charge of transport arent coming out to say something to urge cyclists not to be a nuisance and danger on the road. Saying this might not do much but it is better than keeping quiet. Ppl will think they are ignoring the problem. Or think it is a small problem.

Like I say I don't have FB. Which is why I'm trying to ask if you guys can let you know on FB. There are multiple reasons why I do not want to use FB.

I have actually spoken to him a few times, and emailed him too and so far he does reply personally and quite promptly.

So even if he know about this case, what can he do besides giving a standardized answer?

Darn. why did that altis brake? [sly]

Because the driver know he will be in deep shit if he bang the reckless rider even though he’s not at fault.

I would do the same.

I don't know and I cannot control what other people do or don't do. But I know what I can control and do to help play a part in hoping it helps. Just because the chances of them being able to take action is low doesn't mean I don't try.

My bad. I didn't know about it.

That stretch leads to shenton way, west coast highway and sentosa.

So you go figure where most of these MAMILs stay/work/ride😁

Actually where they stay is not a concern to me. My point is there can't be 100% surveillance and enforcement.

Cannot have 100% (or even 50%) enforcement because there is no money in it (ie. whatever AMAP recommended are just recommendations, no legislation no fines no bite).

I see many a times TP actually put mobile laser speed camera hiding under the flyover and behind pillars to catch cars going >10kph above speed limit along that stretch. I do not seem to see any enforcement team there to catch errant cyclist there.

I use that stretch daily and even the weekends. So I am pretty certain I am being fair about the assessment.

We are doomed if we have to send videos of reckless cyclists to our transpork ministers for them to take notice.

They have set rules but the hired enforcements are totally lacking. I notice the enforcements are in neighbourhoods and kinda random and not in the right locations. LTA/TP bike patrols are mostly done during the day. How to enforce the rules when the en masse cycling appears at night?

Who is going to volunteer to work at night? Or who wants to volunteer?

If I get to ride a TP big cc bike at any speed to help enforce, I don't mind!

Where to sign?

Different scope of work. I don't think it's within the TP scope of work. I could be wrong. But I know we have the Auxiliary Police whose scope is to enforce these.

There is legislation and fine for cycling more than 10 in a group. $150. Just that there is limited surveillance and enforcement.

You are right not even 50%. I would say not even 1%. There are so many roads and pavement in Singapore how do even cover 1% of them? And there are 24 hours a day. Do you expect auxiliary police to be stationed at even 1% of the roads at 3am?

It would be good to have high surveillance and enforcement. But at what cost? You sure that's what we want?

Fine: $150.

MOT accepted AMAP recommendation.  Accordingly, these recommendation are rules now

The problem is no enforcement despite being provided with the relevant information.

Every so called solution will just bring about another problem. Look at the e-scooter. The authorities thought it can be a last mile solution but it turn out to be a nuisance and a danger to others. So ban. Ppl turn to cycling. Cycling also became the same sh!t.

If they are ban on the roads those en masse cyclists will terrorize the pavements and pcn. Another problem. Problem where the root cause is always the human being and their behaviour.
