2019 All new Mazda 3

Finally managed to test drive the m3 today, the soft launch is tmr and I see they have got all the variants on display at leng kee.

 

As many have said it’s very pricey for what it really is, driving wise was pretty decent , power was unremarkable and despite it being called a “mild” hybrid , it does have any driving characteristics of one.

 

Essentially a standard 1.5 car that’s really dressed up, but peel away the “clothing” it’s hard to justify it’s price.

 

Base model came decently equipped with HUD and halogen DRLs albeit with smaller wheels than the rest.

 

Seen quite a few people making bookings for it though.

but its cheap, PI fit selling 65k odd only. 

I'm referring to agent. There are people that are not willing to go PI route...

Honest Review after test driving..

Pros: 
Everything feels premium, like every other online review had said. The buttons, rotary knobs to the ergonomics is very well designed. 

Composed and very quiet ride even on 18" Wheels. Even the sound of the indicator, the smallest detail is being paid attention to.

 

One should really go test drive and feel it.

 

Cons:

Lack in power? Yes. But surprisingly moving off the line is not sluggish. I guess driving town speeds should be fine, but highway speeds and accelerating to overtake might be struggle. To be fair driving a 1.4T now so honestly is MUCH better than I would have expected. (Total 3 person including me in car)

 

Also the rear is definitely small in size if compared to a Civic. Sitting 3 for long journeys would not be ideal.

 

If one is looking at this Mazda 3 IMO should consider the Elegance Trim. Plenty tech and useful features. Classic too barebone while Astina not worth the 3k upgrade (mainly for the Bose sound system)

i've got a good relationship with some people at my dealership. took my 2015 mz3 for servicing today and he gave me a 2019 mazda 3 to drive as a loan car. finally got to drive it OTOT.

 

for the record, the 2019 mazda 3 is not available as loan vehicles yet. only as a staff vehicle and demo for their staff to familiarise themselves with it..

 

 

 

 

found an interesting quirk. the windshield washer is on the wiper. only other time i saw this is on the Merc SL class..

 

 

really like the finish on the door handle and the bose speaker too

Final drive ratio = 4.605

wheel size = 215/45/R18

 

calculated vehicle speed @ engine rpm

90 km/hr @ ~2073 rpm

100 km/hr @ ~2304 rpm

120 km/hr @ ~2764 rpm

130 km/hr @ ~2995 rpm

 

assume torque converter full lock up.

consider error +/- 5%

 

conclusion: quite similar to 1.6NA sedan.

it's in the photo.. hahaha i just realised because i was trying to remember when i was scrolling the info this afternoon.. 9-10L/100km combined..

 

what they mostly use for is just a guess:

 

-as their personal car for short period of time (will depend how far they live, depending on freeway or not)

-was previously used as demo car during the day too (city driving)

 

EDIT: oh yeah, please also bear in mind that this is a 2.5L version..

Wahaha I chuckled at the slyphy. The facelift model is all watered down. Rear tail light became bulb when the pre facelift came with LED. Basic model even come with fabric seat and hubcap. What a joke!

Thats a joke i tink.

 

Nissan's teana. Old cerifos. Murano. Yes these r comfy. Cozy. More premium feeling interiors but definately not slyphy lar.

 

Same goes toyota. Harrier. Camry got that more premium feel interior.

If it's 2.5, the FC is actually pretty decent. And 2.5L is not even sold in Singapore... you were pretty lucky then

 

my current BM model is also a 2.5L 6MT.. currently avg about 8.2l/100km. to be fair, even our city traffic here in perth cannot be compared to the city traffic in singapore.. plus the moment you get on the freeway, so long as not peak hour, is literall cruising at 100km/h at 6th gear.. so that helps compensate..
