Sigh... these few days so much sad news...

RIP.

You shaped the hero-mindsets of the world's Chinese-speaking people in the last ~60 yr...

Thanks for all the great memories of my/our growing up years - even till now actually...

RIP...

My secondary and poly days had been reading all his novel.

The only Chinese books I've ever read. And I used to have my Chinese dictionary (pre Internet years) to refer to words. I remember my pocket dictionary couldn't translate most of the names, and I had to bring out the 1600 page dictionary.

Forever remembered. My dad went to China and got me 碧血剑 I remember...

i love 书忩ä»å½ the most, read many times,

but funny this series not as popular as the rest.

The only major series I never read actually. But it's somewhere in my kindle. Will start reading it

I remember my school library had the books. Public library is confirm cannot get his books. Haha always only book 3 or 4. Book one perennially loaned out

This one not as popular, although it was the very first one i starting watching on TV as a kid...

The most popular ones were not shown (completely) in SG, strangely.

That should likely be

  1. 射雕
  2. 神雕
  3. 倚天

because these trilogy are related and linked.

天龙八部 should be the the prelude to the trilogy, although there is no more links...

Your dad went to get 碧è¡å because you had to read Simplified Chinese ? It used to be mostly HK and Taiwan versions in SG.

RIP.

No. I wanted to buy the books here in Sg. But one set is like 40-50+ dollars? Sg has the simplified version.

I can't remember which was fan ti. But I could read it relatively OK.

Oh I remember, I want sg or china version cos it's not from top to bottom. I can't read like that. Hahaha

Think I was in Upper sec or jc.

Then my reasoning is books must be cheap in China so on a work trip, my dad got me some books. He also got me some 古龙 ones. But the paper quality is like crap. But very cheap maybe 1-2 dollar per book.

wah... you RI actually read 金庸 [thumbsup]

I didn't like all the wuxia novels when young, cos found them too wordy. I preferred comics, and spent the first 18 yr of my life reading those.

Only till NS time, then got hooked to 金庸. But all those words that I didn't understand, i just skipped and moved on [laugh]

Still can understand without any problem, ha ha...

Some I skip, some I want to know cos its the name of the character, and its annoying not to know.

Actually I have the kindle version and the electronic dictionary helps a lot. Some words I only learnt to read via this.

LOL u can borrow the entire set in the ri library cos no one borrows it. I devoured them. But I never read 倚天 book one until I got the kindle version.
