ZephyrX_045 1st Gear September 4, 2023 Share September 4, 2023 Hi Guys, Paiseh, super late to the Civic forum. And apologies in advance for long post… Was thinking of scrapping my 1.0T Leon since AD now incumbent and car no value liao… sianz… got it in 2020, and 3 years only, nobody want buy. Anyway, was wondering about the FE Civic, is it any good or has any problems now with the newer manufacture year models 2023 onwards? I understand that the 1.5 turbo L15BJ is basically a detuned L15BG. Was told by BMS Tuning they can tune up to original hp, and then 2nd tuner Supertune say can tune up to the Honda Accord’s 187hp and 243nm variant of the L15BG… I’m not the person who wants insane power, just want the drivability… warranty being void is no issue for me, because I always go outside to one of my best friend’s workshop to service. Even with my previous Leon. Next is, I saw someone with factory FE LED headlights on sale, is it advisable to convert or just change over to white halogen? If i were to upsize the rims to 17-inch, which tyre profile should I opt for that won’t screw up the speedometer calibration? Lastly, I did read this forum that there has been some quality control issues… Has those been fixed/addressed? Reason why I’m changing to Honda is that I want to get something long-term for 10-20 years, I’m still in my late 20s so would want an ICE over a hybrid or EV before they are gone for good. Hope to receive a reply~

Export wise, was told it would be around 7-8K. My scrap paper value is at 20K. I also want to get rid of it because my DSG already showing some issues. Park under hot sun, cannot engage gear, wheel speed sensor got issue also. Had to drive without power steering to get it fixed. You want to buy my Leon with such issues? Granted the AD can fix the issues as you tell them. But longevity wise, I would not want to sell a problematic car to others. The TCU is the one that controls the gear shifts and the gear changes. Apparently the workshop told me my particular car did not come with a heat shield/heatsink and the TCU was really hot and cannot function properly. Only thing they did was just reprogram the gearbox… Varies by batch units. My particular batch from Spain was about 5 units. So there’s 4 more Leons with this issue out and about in SG. Probably living the sheltered life 😆 Edited September 5, 2023 by ZephyrX_045

Correct... VAG has indeed improved. But this particular batch i have has omitted some stuff for lower OMV... But again, we are talking about 2019 Manufacturing Year on the older MQB platform... the newer generation ones switched from dry clutch to wet clutch DSG, better reliability, but sadly it will be the last ICE generation for the Mk. 8 Golf, Mk. 4 A3, Mk. 4 Leon and Mk. 4 Octavia.

ZephyrX_045 1st Gear September 8, 2023 Share September 8, 2023 (edited) Hi All, Just some crucial updates. I will be getting the Civic, just not so soon due to COE prices. Other than that, the car is quite a sporty one which can compete with the Leon in terms of that after I have test driven the car today. One important thing to note is that the Civic e:HEV is cancelled completely, it is no longer going to be sold in Singapore.
