haha this sounds partly like my pain when i change handphone.

So this year I swapped from my old oppo -> samsung a54 -> switched back to my new oppo.

For some reason, I CANNOT receive any sms or voice call verification from whatsapp. All my last few phone swaps all had this problem.
So my WA is always stuck in a process where i cant verify the new phone and it has logged me out of the old one. I have to trial and error, and sometimes it just works after multiple times trying (even though I never receive the OTP).

Sometimes it seemingly works, but then u cannot backup your messages. Then u have to uninstall and go through it again. Only if the phone manages to backup the chats and synced to their server, then u can conclude that it's successful.

haha your problem seem worse then mine, and imagine you get stuck overseas, it is like calling sky but the sky is not responding(叫天天不应)

you dont get the point, when your primary phone number on the esim is gone, even with roaming data, you can only whatsap, surf web and doing all the internet stuff, but when you need OTP or making local land line calls, that is you will be stuck.  When there is no OTP, some of your credit card transactions will not go through, when no land lines, you cannot call overseas land line when they do not use whatsap or mobile phone, like car rental office , how to reach them when you do not have a phone?

Nowadays, i don't use OTP for bank.

Use bank app as Authenticator

There are ways to prevent your frustration if u prepared for it. :D Without a sim card is still fine to travel but without a phone then die c@6k stand.

I am curious, which banks cc u using? I will avoid them. Mine are, Citibank, DBS, AMEX. In oversea, I only use Utrip, Revolut... all using app to authorize transaction unless I want to change settings for my account.

There r paid apps to make oversea or local call when roaming or in Singapore.

I have a dual sim/esim phone. I set forwarding to each other when unreachable, ie when no network.

Maybe just my groups of friends, colleagues and customers, we msg or call one another via whatsapp. More scammers call my mobile directly.

Last of all, I always bring a spare phone for in case I lose my mobile when oversea.

There are others, like when you want to set up and new local app, the verification will need an otp, thend to have some situation that a sms is requited.

If i recalled correctly there was once need by youtrip, there were other local apps that after installing, the first verification will need an otp

I held a Gomo line for my kid for the longest time, now its time to transfer the ownership, do you guys know how to do that? The Gomo webchat bot only say they can't do it fullstop. Would love to hear the experience of someone who had done it. TIA!

Gomo is the company that i read has zero customer support one.
So don't bother. They won't help.

They are literally a front end service and nothing behind it even if catastrophic fug up.

Yeap, stay away from Gomo. They claim 24hrs support, until you tried to contact them. Wait for at least 5 hrs still no response, until I give up.

At that time, I was trying to portover a line from Simba. But Simba had a min 30 days restriction, which they don't exactly tell you. Gomo doesn't tell me either, just fail to portover and keep quiet. What am I supposed to do ? They already collected my subscription and refuse to refund.

I think all such providers have a minimum 30-day subscription since you pre-pay the month at sign up - they won't go to the effort of refunding $6-15 cheap plans. I think this fair, I wouldn't do it either if I was them.

Switching is getting more common.

Switch to another MVNO! some can change during the transfer by providing original owner's details.

Eight.com and zero1 has a main walk-in office. You can approach them to help with your ownership transfer.

You need to goggle their address.

If I'm not wrong. zero1 has a FAQ section on asking whether ownership transfer can be done.

That's why i chose them in the 1st place. My girl is 13 now. In 2 years time can transfer liao. Or maybe when she finishes JC/poly.

All my children, and even my wife's lines are under my name. Had wanted to transfer my elder daughter's line when she started working, but M1 said down time 2 days, and we shelf it. [laugh] [laugh] [laugh]

Ha i suspect a lot of families are like that.

But I want them to take some ownership of their own basic stuff as they grow up lah.
I already have the tendency to do everything for them.

I changed ownership of my boy's Circle's Life (under me) to his own contract with Z1 during transfer - we took the Stay-6-Free-6. Only needed to email Z1, fill a form, and return.
