AC Cooling coil expensive to replace

Go to a workshop that specialize in aircon rather than a general workshop.

I asked them to show me leakaged which they cannot show me any. They say it's under the dashboard and need to pry open and install a new one.
Angry and depress I asked them to unplug whatever hose they were plugging into my car and I just want to get out of there. From North area I drove to East where my usual mech is. He advise me to top up the gas first and monitor from there onwards. It's been 5 days and 4 rides so far the aircon is really cold. My question is are they trying to conned me? Or legitly there is a leakage? Or worst if my car compressor wasn't even spoilt and they made me change it. It's a 2018 sedan 2.0 car and mileage is 100k for now. Any feedback?

Not advisable for old car to flush.
Many ws love to ask u flush when u replace compressor, it does make the ac colder.
But old coil normally have certain amount of corrosion already, the aluminum coil cold be already very thin, or even have minor leak.
When u flush, there is alot of pressure in the system, u suck away the dirty oil and corroded material at the same time, and a leakage occur.

But look on the bright side, unless your car gonna scrape soon, if u flush and leakage occur, mean the coil gonna leak quite soon also.

2018 car not that old la. 5years only. 
actually when replacing compressor for any reason other than magnetic clutch, must flush to get rid of any debris. else when the new compressor is installed the debris will float back to the compressor and jam it. All good Aircon shops know they must flush. And no it’s not a scam. Warranty is voided by the spare parts shop should the Aircon shop be lazy and not flush and the new compressor breaks down again. 
 

let the car wizard explain. See from 9mins. But most shops here will not replace the condenser. They will try to flush unless the badly jammed up. You might as why not replace the evaporator too. No need, the tube size is big and can easily be flushed as with the lines.

I certainly won't go for recon parts if my car still have 5 more years to go. Unless I'm planning to sell it soon. Well, everyday we learn something, hope he has learnt his lesson.

There a few reasons for not getting a recon part like the aircon compressor.

One thing is you dont know who is doing the repairs and how long it will work. The 1month warranty tells you it is a joke. Most importantly you will definitely be ending up paying more when the recon compressor fail shortly and you decide to get a new one to have a peace of mind.

I have used Kim Aircon numerous times and am comfortable with the boss Ah Kim. New luck aircon is recommended by bros here.
