I just went watch Reunion Dinner n AGGA and was shocked there were less than 10 people each time i went. Moreover its on a weekend. Is it because of the expensive ticket prices, covid, not good local production that has lead to poor ticket sales at the cinemas?

No one watches local movies anymore (same for TCS shows). Watch some real movies and you will see people in the cinema.

One of the reason could also be Omicron. Cinemas are actually (no matter how officials deny) high risk profile type of activity.

BTW there is an article today in CNA about falling box office over the last decade from peak of 168mil to 100mil even BEFORE pandemic hit.

basically movie going was on the downtrend even before last 2 years nail in the coffin

When i went to watch spiderman when i was back in SG, the cinema was full albeit the gap between seats..

These local production are all crap, don't see why need to spend $10-12 to watch, just wait for local release if not there's other ways

not really true as Marvel movies are usually packed

the latest Spiderman movie was box office for weeks

most of the reviews of AGGA are bad, YahooSG even gave it 1 star out of 5 😂

and i guess even the hardcore supporters are a bit sick of Jack Neo's army theme movies (his 5th installment liao)

not every movie can be like Fast & Furious 😁 even this franchise also becoming stale

That means jack Neo needs to move with the times and change his mindset. What was funny 10 years ago may be lame n offensive to people nowadays.

I had to wait 2 weeks for Spiderman.

Think watching movies with mask still safer than dining out.
