Jail them too long also waste our taxpayer money. Just cane max and release after the minimum sentences allowed.

PS. Cane on the last day before release.

@Jman888 this will surely end up in some movie or short film production ... like ... last minute already ... "once the plane take off we will be free !!" .... sekali, the plane turns back and .... "that's the moment, they know they are xxxxx".

@Jman888 dump fuel .... eg ... circle around the airspace of SG until the fuel is lesser enough for landing.

For airplanes not able to dump fuel, most airplanes have a process to enable landing overweight. There are strict procedures and limitations to follow.

This is not a serious enough crime to warrant an air turnback. It is a petty crime (with some criminal confinement involved). An air turnback is very expensive, disruptive and complicated.
Once airborne, SPF will first need to contact the airline, request that the aircraft be turned back, if deemed serious enough. But, if the airline or the Captain doesn't want to turn around, there is little that SPF can do.
Likely, SPF will ask their China counterparts to arrest the criminals upon arrival at their destination. Although there is no formal extradition treaty between Singapore and China, there is still some form of co-operation between law enforcement agencies.

This is robbery with hurt + illegal confinement.

Looking at 10 - 15 years + caning for the Main culprit.

Pretty much this. Once the plane take off, nothing much SPF can do anymore.

Band 3 school in hk. Do not expect too highly.

I read some facebook linked posts from that secondary school.

As principal he wasn't even supposed to be on this trip. Generally it should be head of department to accompany student for such field trip. Especially those overseas education trip to China. Hardly hear principal would tag along.

This time Singapore.  Free trip paid by the school. 😁 lost his job eventually ...what a trip.

Wah, it is getting real serious! Will MOE adopt the same approach if such case happened to a principal on overseas trip?

School rejects resignation of HK principal in S'pore bus spat, fires him

The Hong Kong school principal, Lee Cheuk Hing, who was involved in a bus dispute in Singapore, has been fired.

This follows a previous update where the principal had tendered his resignation.

According to The South China Morning Post, the school rejected his resignation.

In his resignation letter, Lee requested that his final day be Aug. 31.

Instead, they fired him.

The management committee said that if Lee were to remain as principal, it would "gravely disrupt" the school's operations and prevent teachers and students from "moving forward as soon as possible".

The statement also mentioned Lee's "vulgar" behaviour and how it contravened guidelines for teaching staff.
