We played badly today imo. Though we won but not convincing at all. A goal from penalty and another one from counter attacking 2 against 1.

We were lucky that konate weren't shown a second yellow.

That's true......

But there are times which the team played well  but lost due to ref decisions or simply bad luck....

So I am ok if they play badly and still win.  This even things out.....😄

Always nice to beat Everton and kept a clean sheet... 2-0 is quite a fair result.. don't recall the Evertonians threatening Ali with any shots... Thot we were lucky with the two 2nd-yellow card decisions.. one for Young and the other for Konate...

Not sure why but the current team is either taking more risk or the players aren't moving into better positions to receive a pass... the passing seemed a bit hurried (yeah I think we shld release the ball fast instead making unnecessary touches but need not be hurried) especially in the final third. I remember an attack, our right wing was completely unmarked and the Everton LB was too close to his CB. There was time and space to ping a pass into the space behind Everton's back line... in the end, I think Szoboszlai took his chance from outside the box with a rugby conversion shot.

Salah scored 2 goals but Diaz was the chief tormentor of Everton... got Young sent off and won the penalty kick. Think our attack is abit lopsided these days. I don't think Everton's LB had a hard time...

Sane will be an interesting short term buy... mature (28yo) with EPL experience... won't stand in the way of next G players like Doak... or Gordon... not sure FSG will sanction such a move...

This was probably one of the more routine derby win for Klopp. The team dominated from start to finish and when Everton went down to 10 men, the game is up for the Toffees.  Everton went for the ultimate defensive line up by removing its 2 wide players and put on 2 additional CBs.  This is the classical case of putting all eggs in 1 basket.  If Pool cant break down this China wall, then Sean Dyke will be a hero. But if Pool ever break the duck, there is no way Everton could crawl itself back to contention in the game because there is no way it could score..

True that Pool didnt play well... and it probably didnt need to.  Be it Everton at 11 or 10 men or if Pool got Konate sent off... it feels like Pool probably have a gear or 2 to move up and clinch the game.

All our goals and assist come from Salah.

People think how to replace Salah.

The answer is no need to replace Salah.

We have never replaced players.

Coutinho created and scored a lot of goals as our no 10.

He left and we never replaced him with a new no 10.

A lot of goals and assists from John Barnes but we never replaced John Barnes.

Barnes, Salah, Couti are unique talents and irreplaceable.

Most teams play maker is the no 10. Our play maker is the no 2 the right back Trent. In our case 66.

It works so we don't need a no 10.

So when Salah is gone all our goals and assist will come from the no 9 - the big strong centre forward Victor Osimhen.

Victor Osimhen is like a Luis Suarez.

When we have Suarez we didn't have a right winger that score and assist.

All our goals came from from the middle Suarez, Sturridge, Couti and Gerrand.

Mixed feelings watching the match on Sat.

Pool used to start games aggressively and will be couple of goals up in first half hour. Gone are those days.

What prevails are very careful - laymen = slow - buildup that thrives (only) on opponents suddenly got lobangs in their defensive lines. If the opponents park the bus (quite long never see this phrase...) in a very disciplined manner, Pool will be clueless on how to unlock the defence, and will/can just kick the ball around at the back, left to right, and vice versa.

Familiar? This was the case after Suarez left. Now it's here again. The difference is that now got one additional option - Allison. He will also come outside of penalty box to add one more person to pass the ball around, so as to outnumber any opponent whom might try to put pressure on the LB/LCB/RCH/RB... But with sufficient players at the back (sometimes 4 + Allison), and raking up possession by the minute, i don't think anyone of them really knows what to do next, sometimes even putting ownself or teammates under pressure by making risky passes when opponents are closing in... Even rarer would be to transition and start or initiate attacks quickly when in possession.

Even on the occasions when they managed to get the ball to the wingers, also often will have to turn back and pass back, such is their kiasuism, or obsession on not losing the ball. Seldom adventurous or prepared to take risks.

Then after like 80% of the match gone, suddenly realised that things are not working, then resort to long shots...

If the old chap called Young was not sent off, then really dunno could have broken down Everton or not... Finally VAR/referees did not take side against Pool... for a change.

Oh, that Konate left his brain at home izzit? Already saw the stupid Young got 2 yellows, this Konate maybe felt bad and pitied Everton and tried so hard to even the number of players on the field. Totally needless to get the totally-deserved yellow card. Then not long later go and pull such stunt... can't complain if he got sent off too, and i think Kloop should bench him for some matches to wake up his idea. Why do this to the team/teamates, after we've seen Jones, VVD, Jota (and v nearly TAA) did the same already...

Nothing much to cheer on the match, except that managed to secure the 3 points...

I saw the game differently. If Everton had 11 or 10 men, the writing on the wall is the Pool will find a way to break them down.  Pool has scored in every game played this season so its firepower cannot be understated. Cant say the same for its defense though.

With everton down to 10 men, it became harder for Pool because they basically stopped playing and wanted to go for a draw.  Even so, I feel Pool will unlock the door as it had almost all the possession and putting the Everton's defense under pressure.  It will eventually crack.

had Pool gone down to 10men, it remains to be seen if Everton will change its pattern of play given it has so many defensive players on the pitch. If they continue to hold the china wall, then Pool will have a bigger issue to break them down. But i reckon Everton will try to be more open and Pool may in theory have an easier time to pick their pockets.

If Pool also comes down to 10 men, this will let Everton to attacking mode which leaving behind loop holes for our attacking forwards. Pool have shown it when against Newcastle. :yuush:

After that first 5 minutes header which direct at Alison, Everton have no chances of attacking in waves like Pool did.

Pool took more than 28 shots at Everton goal while against 6 for Everton.

Everton was hoping for a point (draw) after Young red carded...... :slow:
