Hi everyone, I bought a brand new 2013 Buick Encore and never had any major issues with it until recently. It now has 78,000 miles on it. Last week, the engine light came on and shortly after, there was a repetitive clattering noise coming from the engine when it was running and it had issues with acceleration and deceleration. The engine light would also go off and the noise would diminish a bit when it was off. I called my dealer and made an appointment. I was told that my lifters needed to be replaced and that I also had a crack in my front exhaust. My dealer said that, given the age of my car, this shouldn't have happened. I also regularly bring my car in for maintenance check-ups and oil changes, and also engine cleanings. My oil change light hasn't even come on. I asked my dealer to do the repairs and $1,000 later, my car seems to be running fine again. I called Buick and opened a case to see if they could do anything. They also said the lifters shouldn't have gone out. I received a follow-up today and was informed that there's nothing they can do. The powertrain warranty covers this and since it only goes up to 70,000 miles, there's nothing to be done and they can't extend the warranty. I asked if my car only had 72,000 miles if that would have made a difference and they said yes. So basically, because my lifters decided to go out for no reason at 78,000 and it's not close enough to 70,000, I'm stuck with these repair costs. I will never buy a Buick again. I don't know much about cars, but I do know that I had a used Oldsmobile Alero for 10 years that I took much less care of and never had a single engine problem.

Just get your car clocked to 69,000 miles

and have the dealer reinburse your $1,000.

Clocking works both ways and make clocking work for you and not just the dealers.

Next time you sell your car to a dealer just clock it and get a better price!

Get your MIL to sell to the dealer and tell them she is the driver.

Retired _ _ _ and only drive at weekend to market!

Make clocking work for you and if the dealer sues you in court like that lawyer that bought the clocked Mazda 3 and lost his case,

get the lawyer used by the dealer!

Dealer sell problem car and people make a fuss!

Many people cheat dealers by selling them a problem car in the first place.

Why no one condemn these people for cheating the poor used car dealer in the first place.

Don't tell me willing buyer, willing seller and never do due diligence etc

Willing buyer, willing seller and never do due diligence etc works both ways too right?

:D
