@13177  $169k is for the event cars and already sold out when i reach the Expo on Sunday afternoon. those who went to the expo prepared n early can benefit from this deal.

Lol Sat 5pm I saw the board still 50% unsold. That was fast fish mongering by MG.

I didnt ask because so many fish buyers but these 'event' cars are what? Fresh cars or used mgmt units?

@ConnorMcLeod Hello, are you actually comparing the Aion V with the MG S6? Cos the S5 does not come with a frunk.

Also, do take note that if you go for non-guarantee COE bidding, the Aion cars will not come with 10 yr free servicing option while the MG cars still include 10 yr free servicing.

It's frustrating that S5 doesn't come with frunk and ventilated seats (it comes with heated seats instead), otherwise it would be close to ideal for me.   It's a rwd, should have plenty of space under bonnet for a frunk...

@Tkseah No ventilated seats is indeed a shame but at least the air con is quite strong. For frunk, Eurokars has just started importing the S5 frunk accessory for installation with a fee. So if any of you interested can still check with MG Singapore.

They should include that as a freebie for new buyers, while charge a fee for existing owners who want to install.

@Ake109  I was at expo 2pm sunday and all sold.

my understanding is that an "event car" is supposed to be used in events to chauffeur VIPs like the CEOs, tennis / golf players etc. I think they are already registered road cars with low mileage (most events last for just a few days).

the driver might have floored the accerlator when driving, sped past the speed humps and potholes, since not their own car. but if I get 5-10kSGD discount for a 2k km mileage car, I think is worth considering.

not sure is the buyer only can view the cars and no test drive, but since its an EV I wonder if can ask to power up the car to test all the lights/aircon etc at the expo, otherwise can check visible damages only.

Short of getting a 7-seater car with sliding doors, and if you can get pass the exterior look (subjective though), the EV with the cabin space of the Aion V and with nearly the same trunk space as well as very ingress and egress whether at rear or in front is the AION Y Plus.  Its sides has NO frame kerbs as its floor is flat throughout side-to-side. Your dad can easily slide his feet into and out of the cabin. It feels wider than its sibling due to the kerbless floor.

AION Y Plus can consider, inside also quite spacious and i find this car drive better than Aion V.

S5 follow atto3, both no frunk. Lol.

Heated seats also not bad, can treat it as a heat pad relieving your back pain.

Still need to pay for the frunk for exisiting owners? Is this how Eurokars making money from customers?

Did they display those event car at the car expo? Or customers just book for the car without having to view the car?

@ConnorMcLeod  There are 2 S5 cars with the S’pore Badminton Association livery on display at the expo, so probably those are part of the event cars pool. Event will only be happening at the end of this month, so those booked during the expo need to wait till June the earliest to get the car.

They also have reserved event cars (higher priced than event cars, but most likely wont have mileage) which are still available while stock last

H @13177, I assume the cars with the "$169988 MG S5 event car" sign are the event cars.

Visitors continued to molest these cars when the poster shows all event cars were sold.

indeed, as @samwongothers mentioned, I saw only two of these cars, so most likely those who booked the cars are based on own experience and spec of the car, not the actual copy (what I said earlier is therefore wrong).

@samwongothers any clue on the price for the reserved event cars? I didn't see any mention of these cars during the expo. I suppose can always drop by the showroom at Leng Kee to find out during the weekend (hope I don't feel lazy again this weekend!)

They really know how to present the figures/specs.

Displayed range 560km city range instead of the official WLTP range that encompasses more driving scenarios.

And displayed the boot space volume when in fact that figure is storage space with rear seats folded.

Sounds good on paper right? NAPPA leather.

But you go to BYD showroom, run between the Cat A synthetic leather and the Cat B NAPPA leather. Maybe you can tell the diff, I cant.

I mean, I balls more song because its Nappa, but really hor... i cant tell.

For all these interior comparisons, never take what reviewers say lor, always ownself plonk arse on the car in showroom. Its too personal.

The comparison was made not based on reviews from the internet but my personal session test driving both cars as well as my previous cars with nappa leather.

So the difference between cloth/velvet like and nappa is significant (at least to me).

And for MG, the cloth area is exactly on where you sit and lean upon, not on the side of it. In fact, it felt a little warm after sometime as well.

Sales of the MG4 Urban in China (2nd generation MG4) is doing rather well. See chart below.

image.png.10e32c168baa995833f961790ab769fd.png

In China, the MG4 Urban was released in September 2025. Currently doing around 10k in sales per month. Much better than the previous first generation where sales were close to zero. Looks like SAIC has model with lots of buyers in mainland China.  Question is if that same appeal will carry over to the rest of the world. Sales numbers in Singapore will tell the story.

The Chinese version of the 2026 MG4 Urban is equipped with Horizon Robotics’ L2+ intelligent driving solution. The Advance Driving Assistance System (ADAS) delivers stable, efficient, and safe highway Navigation on Autopilot (NOA) functionality, including automatic highway overtaking, lane keeping, and turn-signal lane changes.

The new MG4 Urban has advanced parking features that includes:

  • automatic front-entry parking;
  • DIY parking mode;
  • parking speed adjustment;
  • dead-end road parking;
  • low-speed parking spot detection; and
  • smartphone-vehicle parking visualization.

Pretty sure the advance ADAS from Horizon Robotics wont be made available in Singapore. But, the advance parking features should be.

Some of the comfort features for the 2026 MG4 Urban includes front seats with 8-point massage, ventilation, heating (useless feature here in Singapore), and a front passenger seat with a 4-way electric leg rest. The rear seat cushion measures 571mm in length.

It might make them getting in and out more difficult.

This car is not that high.
