I test drove both S5 and 4 urban.. 4 urban besides ventilated seats and better efficiency.. the rest like handling etc. I feel s5 is equal or better.. not that 4 urban is bad though.. sadly both of them got no frunk.. 4 urban also missing rear center armrest

Looks like MG EV, most of their cars have no frunk? Actually i do not understand why they cannot have frunk in their cars, esp the S5.

your kind of driving is best for EV definitely.

Just ask whether got any caveats to the battery warranty etc.

For MG 10 years battery warranty as I understood is subject to SoH (State of Health).

Year 1-8 >= 70%

Year 9-10 >= 60%

I see the spec, despite the size for S5 bigger than MG4, but the wheelbase MG4 is slightly longer.

Yes, 4 urban wheelbase slightly longer so rear legroom maybe marginally more, but the s5 got better headroom so u dun really feel the rear space smaller than 4 urban.

The S5 has LFP but I think the S6 is NMC.

Yes.

Page 1 of this thread mentions the S5 which has LFP chemistry for its high voltage battery pack.

Page 5 of this thread mentions the S6 which has the NMC chemistry for its high voltage battery pack.

If want spacious rear space, i find aion V rear space super spacious. Lol. S5 rear space not say very spacious if compared with others EV.

Aion V is nice.. just that for equivalent equipment specs have to compare their higher trim model vs other brands..

Even the so called lower spec for Aion V, i find already very nice and well equip. I am surprise on the features that this car has. On the other hand, MGS5 features not say fantasy, the only good thing on this car is the handling and ride is very nice as compared with other brands.

anyone had S6? it seem interior itself more attractive then tesla or sealion 7.

The range is bigger  around 580 - 700 , charging using 11KW, DC max is 144KW not that far off from tesla at 175KW but better than Sealion cat A which is 110KW on DC and 7 KW on AC..

The acceleration is decent 9.8s comparing to sealion 7 which is 11s

weight is 1.9 similiar to tesla, the review in UK forum seem ok with minior software bug price wise it alot better with 4-5 years warranty on electronics, 10 years on battery, free service 10 years and free data 10 years but if the consumable charges high after 5 years u got only repair centres is Eurokars to fall back

2nd Gear

Seems like a great Cat A SUV with less than 10s 0-100 which is not easy to do. Only thing to note is the NMC battery if I’m not wrong so charging limit is 80% for daily use.

If you drive off immediately after charging to 100%, no issue.

NMC don't like sitting at 100% overnight.

MGS5 and S6 are using NMC battery? If charge above 80%, will degrade the battery life?

MGS6 is using MNC battery. MGS5 is using Lithium Iron Phosphate if i'm not wrong. Both are different type of battery.

Depend on what you prioritize for the interior between MG S6 vs Sealion 7.

In terms of physical button layout, I felt MG is less "loud" as it's further away from the driver.

Although on paper SL7 is slightly longer and wider, however, the interior felt slightly smaller than MG, not sure where the space went to. The height of the rear passenger window is not homogenous throughout. Towards the end, it will get narrower and some passenger felt claustrophobic effect. The rear windscreen is much smaller than MG viewing from a rear mirror.

The plus of SL7 will be their full nappa leather as opposed to MG half-bake offering with partial Alcantara leather (a.k.a synthetic) and cloth (or rather velvet like) type of upholstery.

SL7 design is towards coupe style, that’s why  the headroom space and the rear space seems smaller.

Only those tall and boxy design would make the interior looks big and spacious.

Even i find the interior is quite ‘airy’ and spacious for atto2. As this car is tall. Even though this is a small size SUV.

Since in the China market the consumers are obsess with space, i use their AI search to ask for a comparison.

Space Category

Aion V (2nd Gen) - Rear Legroom1040 - 1106 mm (Very spacious, comparable to larger SUVs)
BYD Sealion 7 - Data N/A (Expected to be very good due to long 2930mm wheelbase)
MG S6 - Data N/A (Described by Top Gear as "plenty for tall people on a long trip")

Aion V (2nd Gen) - Rear Headroom 1045 mm
BYD Sealion 7- Limited by coupe-SUV roofline (requires real-world testing)
MG S6 - Good (reportedly ample for tall adults)

Seat Features
Aion V (2nd Gen) - Rear seat adjustable (standard 100-104°, max 137°) ; Front seats recline flat for "bed mode"
BYD Sealion 7 - "Boss-seat" with power leg rest (front passenger)
MG S6 - Heated rear seats; Reclining 2nd-row seats

Trunk Capacity
Aion V (2nd Gen) -  500 L; BYD Sealion - 500 - 520 L; MG S6 - 674 L (largest standard trunk)

Aion V (2nd Gen) - Max Cargo987 L (seats folded); BYD Sealion 7 - 1,789 L (seats folded); MG S6 - 1,910 L (estimated, seats folded)

Front Trunk (Frunk)

Aion V (2nd Gen) - N/A; BYD Sealion 7 - 58 L; MG S6 -102 - 124 L (Single motor vs. Twin motor)

1. Aion V (2nd Gen): The Transparent Space Champion

The Aion V stands out because it is the only vehicle that publishes specific rear legroom and headroom figures—and those numbers are exceptional. The 1106 mm of rear legroom is typically found in much larger vehicles (e.g., BMW X5) despite the Aion V's compact exterior . The car also offers a 1.3m high cabin and seats that fold completely flat to create a "bed mode," making it incredibly versatile for passengers who prioritize comfort.

2. BYD Sealion 7: The Cargo King with a Long Wheelbase

While the Sealion 7 lacks specific legroom millimeter data, its 2930 mm wheelbase is a strong promise of generous rear space . Its main advantage lies in cargo flexibility. It bridges the gap between the Aion V and MG S6 by offering a substantial 500L trunk that expands to nearly 1,800L . The addition of a 58L frunk provides useful covered storage for charging cables or small bags .

3. MG S6: The Storage Specialist

The MG S6 is designed for maximum utility. It features the largest standard trunk (674L) and a massive 124L front trunk—more than double the capacity of the Sealion 7's frunk . Top Gear notes that the rear seat has "plenty" of room for tall adults, though specific measurements aren't provided . This is the best choice for those who need to haul luggage, sports equipment, or large items regularly.

💎 Summary: Which One Should You Choose?

Choose the Aion V if: You want the most guaranteed and spacious rear seat passenger experience, with documented comfort for long trips.

Choose the BYD Sealion 7 if: You want a balance of a roomy interior and excellent folding cargo space, along with a usable frunk.

Choose the MG S6 if: You prioritize maximum storage capacity for luggage or gear in both the trunk and frunk.

While the Aion V provides hard data that makes it very compelling for rear-seat passenger comfort, the final decision may come down to whether you trust the Sealion 7's long wheelbase or need the MG S6's maximum cargo utility. If possible, test the rear seating of the Sealion 7 and MG S6 in person to confirm comfort levels since neither publishes specific legroom measurements.

Means it is okay to charge to 100% with DC and drive off immediately?

Sound like suit my style.  [laugh] [laugh] [laugh]
