But MGS5 is targeting atto3 category than SL7 in terms of price range. SL7 is much more ex than MGS5 even the Cat A version SL7.

I bought MG4 before MGS5 came. I just couldn't forget it after the testdrive for such a RWD car at such price point. 😊 And yes, I testdrove S5 too, it is more tame than MG4 but the handling is just as good. Just try to take a corner with both cars to feel them. 😉

How it feel with a RWD taking corner ah? Heard if not done properly and knowing how to control, it is dangerous as compare to FWD?

@13177 I personally owns an MG ZS EV, which has a FWD drivetrain (and overall satisfied with the car too), so cant directly address your RWD question.
 

However, i do know there’s an MG EV owners SG whatapp group, which has quite a lot of S5 owners there to share their experiences. If you are interested to join, feel free to PM me 🙂

I havnt really push EV RWD hard before, not even sure how it compares to ICE.

But for ICE, once you throttle steer and opp lock before, you will forever remember and crave it again.

I wanna find out from owners if anyone got MG to add a powerbank for their in car camera cos mine will not come in 24/7 mode. Furthermore, SE mentioned must sign some indemity form if i were to add the pwerbank.

For EV, can do away with the power bank.

Hi voltage battery will charge up 12v battery whenever low battery. A lot of EV 12v has build in BMS

Issue is the cam installed by MG will only be on when driven. That's why they offered the powerbank.

5th Gear

Some S5 owners use the 12v accessory outlet (cigeratte lighter socket) to charge up the powerbank, which will power the car cam in parking mode, thus there will be no wire cutting and no tapping from the 12v battery.  

Alternatively, there is also a power cable which taps power from the OBD port directly.    This works with the car cam (hella) provided by MG.

Singapore's MG4 boot space is rated as 398L. But overseas MG4 boot space is rated 363L. I wonder what caused the difference.

MG via Eurokars has released the big brother to the 2026 MG S5, a mid sized C-segment SUV called the MG S6. Available since January 2026.

Dimensions are:

Length = 4,708mm

Width = 1,912mm

Height = 1,672mm

Wheelbase = 2,835mm

Eurokars was smart enough to keep the MG S6 in the Cat A territory and limit power output 109kW with 350Nm of torque. Good enough to do zero to 100km/hr in 9.8 seconds.

Light bar at the rear will differentiate with the smaller MG S5. Ground clearance of 192.5mm when unladen. Reduces to 161mm when fully laden with 480kg of maximum payload capacity. Gross weight of 2,388kg vs. unladen weight of 1,908kg.

Comes with a usable front trunk of 86 liters. Coefficient of drag on the MG S6 is a decent 0.27 (claimed).

The MG S5 is built on SAIC's Modular Scalable Platform that under pins the MG 4, MG S5 and Cyberster.

The interior layout of the MG S6 should be familiar to those that have drive the it's smaller brother - MG S5. Driver gets a 10.2" display and there's a 12.8" infotainment touchscreen. Similar to the MG S5 EV, the MG S6 has a ‘Pilot’ setting where you can configure all the onboard safety systems to your preferences, so that every time you start the car afterwards it’s a couple of taps on the screen to deactivate the most bothersome electronic annoyances. A great feature to have.

The main difference is that the front passenger gets 4-way electric adjustable seat - compared the manual one on the MG S5. This missing feature has been rectified, something that most other competitors now offer.

Sound system now consists of 11 speakers. Not sure if it'll do Dolby Atmos 7.1.2 surround for cinematic experience. Need to check this out with Eurokars.

The boot is now holds much more volume - 674 liters (claimed). That figure is a bit misleading as MG quotes up to the roof, where most manufacturers' figure is up to the tonal cover - so it's not as big one thinks.  With the seats folded down - expands to 1,690 liters.

Seats are fake leather seats. The front seats comes with ventilation and useless heating. The steering wheel also includes the useless heating feature. By providing useless heating features, the MG S6 deserve a $10k discount. 😃

Interior space is very good according to some reviews. 6' 1" individuals can sit comfortably in the rear seats on long road trips. If one wants to sit five adults comfortably, the MG S6 is a good choice.

The MG S6 comes with a panoramic sunroof (thankfully comes with a retractable blind) to keep the hot sun away here in Singapore. Same as the MG S5.

The Heads Up Display (HUD) on the MG S6 is a new feature that differentiates to the smaller MG S5 sibling.

Comes with seven air bags. Has achieved five star Euro NCAP safety rating last year in the leaked test results.

Some additional specs:

Drivetrain: Rear Wheel Drive (RWD)

Turning radius: 5.6m 

Top speed: 200km/hr (better than MG S5's top speed of 170km/hr)

Battery Capacity : 77kWhr (usable is 74.3kWhr and bigger than MG S5's 62kWhr)

Battery chemistry: NMC (need to check if it complies with GB 38031-2025 " Safety Requirements for Power Batteries of Electric Vehicles")

WLTP range: 530km (better than MG S5's 425km)

AC charging rate: 11kW (better than the 6.6kW on the MG S5)

DC fast charge: 144kW (a bit lower than MG S5's 150kW rating)

DC fast charging time from 10% to 80%: 38 minutes (a bit slower than MG S5's 30 minutes)

Wheel size: 20" (much bigger than the 18" wheels on the MG S5)

Number of speakers: 11 (better than the six speakers on the MG S5)

Energy consumption: 16.6 kWhr per 100kms (better than the MG S5 which is at 17.1kWhr per 100kms)

Competing against the MG S5 in the medium SUV C-segment is going to be Aion V, Geely EX5/Proton eMas7, BYD Sealion 7, Leapmotor C10, Skoda Enyak, Toyota BZ4X, Kia EV5, Tesla Model Y, Deepal S07 and Volkswagen ID.4.

Thks for the updates! Was wondering why there isn’t any thread on MGS6. Saw this car at the Motor Show last mth. Usable frunk which had a rubber lining (if I remember correctly Tesla frunk doesn’t hv this lining?)

It was going for $18xk during the Motor Show but seems price has gone up despite COE coming down?

Think initially launched, they gave early bird $10k discount which you can get it around 189k. Now maybe no more the discount liao?

Just read a few comments on MG EV (from Youtube reviews and UK site about S5), it seems quite common to complain about the nagging notification which need to be turn off whenever you start your car manually. 

Just to check, is this a common setup for all EVs (e.g. including BYD Sealion 7) or just to MG S6 EV?

@snowleopard99 Yes, most of the EVs have the safety features (which causes the notifications) turned on by default when starting car, as it is the regulatory guidelines for many countries. 
 

At least for the newer MG EVs like the S6, they have MG Pilot Custom, which allows you to turn off such features with a few presses… more convenient.
