To drive the J7, two conditions have to be met: (1) The high voltage battery SOC is above 20%; and (2) Some fuel in the tank. Yes, whatever that is explained in the article is correct and factual. I went to test drive the SL6 and the J7. I really dont find the J7's ride to be bad as what the reviewers say. I was told the ICE generates mostly power to let the electric motor drive the car (like a ship's turbo electric powerplant). Would be nice if local reviewers would go into these kind of technical details instead of the usual oh cabin is black color, taillights very nice, rim is 19 inches....zzzzzz f**k lah, me and Ah Kow, Ah Seng got eyes ownself see such things. So that 352hp, is only while 70-80kph and probably not even that since part of the ICE output will be generating electricity as well. So expecting most of the PHEVs from China EV and Battery Co. to be similar. I.e. But you and I both know how well informed the typical SG car SE is, when it comes to deep dive technical details. I can only say I test drove both, and it felt very different. For some reason, the BYD had a lag (of up to say 1+ sec) before a sudden surge compared to the J7 which was smoother acceleration (but just as fast). Not sure about BYD, but j7 uses the electric motor from 0 to 40km/h first then subsequent petrol kicks in at higher speed. not sure about the BYD but does it do that?
