Was looking at installing 1...Anyone know the cost and any feedback from those who already own 1? Prefer those that do as package LCD TV + decoder + receiver + antenna etc...

I don't see a need to install any kind of LCD be it for DVD/VCD/TV Mobile. In s'pore, we don't travel more than 2 hours at one go and I find kids here watch too much TV for their own good. Unless, of course your family travel to KL very often...that's a different issue altogether.

Forget abt these TV, get a casio portable tv can already, abt S$400 for a 4" TFT screen portable tv with AV in for ur portable DVD player.

But in SG why would u need a TV on the road when the max travelling time from Changi Airport to Tuas is abt 40mins only at 80km/h. [laugh][laugh][laugh]

U will also invite thief to steal away ur system either in SG or Malaysia. [sweatdrop]

bro, why would you want to get TV in your car?? The reason i bought a car was because of the irriating TV mobile from mediacrap on all buses.....screwed up my entire day with those damned stupid shows or local sitcoms which are absolutely yucky and 100% unfunny.

Hey Seaweed, I got the abovementioned installed for more than 4 mths now, cost me approx $700 for digital decoder, $300 for Monitor (4 channels, TV Mobile, 5, 8 CNA), Total up to $1000, not the cheapest deal of this combo yet i believe, if ure willing to scout on.

My Package includes:

UNIFY DVB (Digital Video Broadcast) receiver w remote

7" TFT Sunshade Monitor w remote

Apart from TV Mobile, all the other channels have difficulty receiving signifcantly at the eastern part of singapore. was told Its the broadcasting signal which u cant really do much to enhance it

regrets? to each its own, nope for me.

My family, even myself (audio pleasure during news) enjoyed the rides, really enjoyed my times while waiting, jams, up north, Its definitely good to have if u have that spare bucks.

depends on installer and the set ICE combination, some after-effects due to poor installation jobs can be quite a pain eg,

1) aeroplane sound when u accelerate, it shouldnt be there

2) FM signal will be weaker if a "transformer" is required (in cases when u have no AUX channel at ur HU and no extra channel from the amp to cater for the TV audio source)

If u can live with just TV Mobile, go for it, its stable for a good session, for other channels, signals are rather inconsistent while on the move even in other areas. Eastern part totally CMI ...

Can try Car Beauty at Eunos if ure interested, look for Kelvin, nice chap.

imho, high chances they (5 & 8) might not get better, as they are not meant for mobile ;o)

next thing i look forward to would be the Digital Audio (radio) .. i love Lush 99.5 but the reception arrghhh

I doubt so it is digital already....

how can digital reception be lousy ???

if lousy , means pauses and sound distortion will be experienced..

Bro, like the others were saying, in Spore no need , but its your $$$$ [laugh]

But I'd suggest you steal [inlove] glances and have [gossip] with the family.

Will do wonders for your blood pressure. [lipsrsealed]

Bro, i've install one Nera diversity receiver in my car also. Reception wise, TVmobile programe 99% island wide coverage, Ch5,8 and CNA about 80% coverage. Beside these TV programmes, i also can receieve teletext, (fastext, i mean real fast). So can check latest stock price, coe result, 4D,toto....etc [sly]

Dnaz having the aeroplane sound because Unify box does not have any CE and E mark certifications which the receiver might cos interference to other electronics component on board. [sweatdrop]

For in-car entertainment, i would still suggest live broadcast TV because for playback system like VCD and DVD, u'll always run out of title.....

u are right, Lousy in digital terms will mean

1) Visual Freeze/Pauses (total cut off) and not bad quality images (Analogue)

2) Audio Pauses (total cut off) and not distorted sounds

ah YES i forgot to mention TELETEXT , forgive me

;oP

I see, thanks, now with the same set-up and hardwares.. the aeroplane sound is now fixed and gone for mths already, after they took out the "transformer" from the 1st initial set-up ;P

Agree on VCD and DVD, i find its a waste of time personally as Like others said, u cant be in the car long enuff to finish the shows (if new titles) and if u repeat the shows...kinda boring right hee... thats why i opt for the dynamic TV broadcasts... but i really hate the "How to Cook programmes" LOL .. hehe

For 700 bucks...I would suggest you get the Creative Mobile Entertainment Centre....

Can D/L DVD movies (around 20 titles into the HDD) and some MTV as well...

Bored with the programming....reload a entire new collection at home....

(This is assuming that you have a monitor in your car.)

I saw this car at my installer place...has this gadget...very pratical as the owner travel to M'sia quite often. And the best part is....his HU is hideaway...the gadget is so small (like a PDA size only) and can just slip into your glove compartment.
