  2. It's Monday and back to my BLUES again......... Must admit, age had catch up ............ This is why ?????????????? The New Alphabets when u reach 40+........ A is for apple, and B is for boat,That used to be right, but now it won't float!Age before beauty is what we once said,But let's be a bit more realistic instead. Now, this is how I see the New Alphabets in lives..... A's for arthritis; B's the bad back, C's the chest pains, perhaps car-d-iac? D's for dental decay and decline, E 's for eyesight, can't read that top line! F's for fissures and fluid retention, G's for gas which I'd rather not mention. H's high blood pressure--I'd rather it low; I's for incisions with scars you can show. J's for joints, out of socket, won't mend, K's for knees that crack when they bend. L's
  3. ADT Corp. agreed to be acquired by private-equity firm Apollo Global Management LLC in a deal that values the home-security company at about $6.93 billion, the latest sign market volatilityhasn’t brought deal making to a halt. The Wall Street Journal reported Monday that the firms were in talks and that a deal could be reported as soon as Tuesday. The all-cash price tag of $42 a share represents a 56% premium over Friday’s closing price. ADT will fold into Apollo’s Protection 1 subsidiary, an ADT competitor Apollo bought last year in a move into the alarm monitoring services industry. “Protection 1’s robust commercial presence will speed ADT’s expansion into the commercial sector,” said Timothy Whall, Chief Executive of Protection 1. Mr. Whall will lead the combined business upon the deal’s completion, expected by June.ADT, an offshoot of the former Tyco conglomerate, makes security products for residential customers and businesses, ranging from burglary alarm systems to wireless cameras and video surveillance. It has worked to position itself as a player in the so-called smart-home market, which aims to connect consumers wirelessly to various household devices. The company’s stock is down 30% in the past year, in part as a result of a broader downturn sparked by fears of slowing economic growth, among other factors. The transaction represents one of the biggest leveraged buyouts in recent years. ADT has more than $5 billion in debt, according to S&P Global Market Intelligence, and a so-called enterprise value of close to $10 billion.Apollo, based in New York, was founded by veterans of junk-bond pioneer Drexel Burnham Lambert. The firm is known for its willingness to make aggressive, sometimes contrarian, bets. The firm has been acquisitive as of late as many rivals have sat on the sidelines of the LBO market. Just this month, Apollo signed a deal to buy struggling education company Apollo Education Group Inc.—with which it is unaffiliated—for around $1.1 billion. The deal also signals that market volatility hasn’t derailed the merger market. Despite choppy equity, debt and other markets this year, activity so far in 2016 has been surprisingly robust in the wake of the record activity notched in 2015, when companies struck nearly $5 trillion of mergers. Other tie-ups this year include China National Chemical Corp.’s $43 billion deal for agricultural-products providerSyngenta AG and Shire PLC’s $32 billion planned purchase of BaxaltaInc. The companies said the combined company will generate $318 million in monthly revenue and total annual sales of at least $4.2 billion. In its most recent fiscal year, ADT posted $3.57 billion in revenue, up 4.9% from the previous year. Apollo said Tuesday that it would finance the deal through $4.7 billion in new debt and the issuance of $750 million in preferred securities. The merger agreement includes a “go-shop” period, during which ADT may actively solicit and consider alternative proposals. Barclays, Citigroup Global Markets, Deutsche Bank and RBC Capital Markets are serving as financial advisers to Protection 1. Goldman Sachs is serving as lead financial adviser to ADT, while BofA Merrill Lynch also is serving as financial adviser to ADT. ADT shares jumped 53% to $41.22 in premarket trading, while Apollo’s stock slipped 4.9% to $12.75.

  5. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-24618701 US drone strike killings in Pakistan and Yemen 'unlawful' CIA drone attacks in Pakistan are responsible for unlawful killings, some of which could amount to war crimes, Amnesty International says. Amnesty said it reviewed nine recent drone strikes in North Waziristan and found a number of victims were unarmed. In a separate report looking at six US attacks in Yemen, Human Rights Watch says two of them killed civilians at random, violating international law. Drone warfare has become common in the US pursuit of al-Qaeda and the Taliban. Few details are known about the covert US drone operation. Senior al-Qaeda and Taliban leaders have been killed in drone strikes in Pakistan, but civilians have also died. These attacks cause outrage in Pakistan, where many assert that the strikes cause indiscriminate deaths and injuries. Last week, a UN investigation found that US drone strikes had killed at least 400 civilians in Pakistan, far more than the US has ever acknowledged. UN special rapporteur Ben Emmerson accused the US of challenging international legal norms by advocating the use of lethal force outside war zones. Establishing precise casualty figures and identifying the dead in such attacks is virtually impossible as independent media are barred from tribal areas near the Afghan border. 'Very tight leash' Amnesty said it had investigated nine of 45 recently reported attacks by US drones, unmanned aircraft operated remotely in control rooms, often on other continents. The group called on the US to disclose information and the legal basis for strikes carried out in Pakistan. In the report, Will I Be Next? US Drone Strikes in Pakistan, the rights group named several victims who, it says, had been unarmed and "posed no threat to life". In October 2012, 68-year-old grandmother Mamana Bibi was killed in a double strike as she picked vegetables in the family's fields while surrounded by her grandchildren, said the report. It said US President Barack Obama's pledge earlier this year to increase transparency around drone strikes had not been fulfilled. "This secrecy has enabled the USA to act with impunity and block victims from receiving justice or compensation. As far as Amnesty is aware, no US official has ever been held to account for unlawful killings by drones in Pakistan," the report said. It called on the governments of Pakistan, Australia, Germany and the UK to investigate drone strikes or other abuses that may constitute human rights violations. Meanwhile, Human Rights Watch said in its report that six US drone attacks in Yemen killed 82 people, including at least 57 civilians. It added that two of the strikes killed innocent people indiscriminately. A controversial aspect of the US policy is that drone attacks are carried out not by the military but by the Central Intelligence Agency. US Defence Secretary Leon Panetta has argued in favour of the policy, saying that the US will continue to defend itself. President Obama has insisted the strategy was "kept on a very tight leash" and that without the drones, the US would have had to resort to "more intrusive military action".

  9. Strange woman with cane strikes women in shorts at Ang Mo Kio market by Beh Yuan Hui NO short pants on the streets! A sexagenarian has been heading to the streets and caning women who wear short pants. The woman has been seen loitering at the market and hawker centre near some flats in Ang Mo Kio, Singapore. Holding a rotan in her hands, the woman would cane any female in short pants that she came across. The republic's Lianhe Wanbao reported that the sexagenarian would also scold the women as she caned them. "Why are you wearing shorts? You must be caned for wearing this," she said in Hokkien. On Thursday, the woman has raised her rotan on a hawker. The hawker, who was annoyed by the old woman's act, had attempted to stop her but was still whipped. Her mother saw this and went to her aid. The mother and daughter managed to stop the old woman and forced her onto the ground. They called the police later.
