Hello! I'm new here. I've been looking around for a new car, and so far have narrowed my choices down to the Chevy Optra and Proton Waja. Both auto versions. I like the Optra for its solid build and ride, but rather slow pick up. The Waja is so so, rather noisy and the steering is rather heavy. Any comments on the Waja's reliability? The build and interior quality is better than the Gen-2. Gen-s feels rather plasticky and flimsy.

It's confirmed that Proton had already start the bits and parts for the new models.Waja is simply rebagde from Mitsubishi Lancer 2.0GT(Not EVO X turbo) but using Proton own Campro 2.0 soft turbo version engine.Changes like grille,Steering,Audio,Rims and rear lights are done by Proton. For Perdana its Proton develop a new 2.3 Campro engine.Price for the Waja is expected to be around RM80,000-90,000 depending on the specs. For Perdana its RM93,000-103,000. Sources:From a reliable sources which had contacts with Proton

Bit by bit facelift... In 2006, Campro engine was fitted in Waja, only change was the A/c Vent... Within a few months, the campro Waja was given a new headlight and tailight design layout while still retains the original shape, the interior now receives a better and bigger centre console like Lancer... This yr, Proton then decide to give the Waja a facelift... Changes are to the nose of the car... By the way the things are being done, PROTON just show how lousy their marketing and managemt strategies were... As if everything were done in a rush... 7 yr old Waja, now then give F/L while cars of different makes are alrdy introducing new models... The beak nose Waja wasn't a looker but still acceptable but the f/l has made it looks like a car from 80s... Crazy Just compare the beak nose waja with the new f/l ones...

Hi All, I am looking to buy some oils (engine and ATF) and sparkies from MX, and was wondering which should I get for a Waja 1.6 Auto. 1. Redline Engine Oil 10w40. I hear only 3litres is required, is this correct? 2. Redline Automatic Transmission Fluid D4. Is this suitable for the Waja? And is 4litres enough? 3. NGK IX Iridium - BKR6EIX-11. Is this the right plug for the Waja? Thanks.

Was hoping very much for PROTON to intro the WAJA with the GEN2 Campro engine and finally it did!! After hearing about it for about 2 years ago... The Campro engined WAJA finally breaks cover in Malaysia!! In fact, all along I was hoping that the WAJA would be facelifted to at least freshen up the current outdated looks and it seems just right to do so when the model is fitted with the Campro engine... But too bad , all those, including me would be disappointed to know that the Campro Waja would look more or less the same as the current WAJA... The only changes are to the interior, note the centre A/C vents and the meters... Fitting wise from the pics can see that it's still not improved... ... I think I'll forget about the existance of PROTON in the car industry... No other car makers got the cheek to make itself a laughing stock time and time again like PROTON... ... The lack of facelifting to the WAJA states that PROTON is in financial crisis and the rumours of VW dropping plans to cooperate with PROTON might threaten PROTON's future... I mean it's pointless for PROTON to carry on and keep on updating on existing models like the WAJA and WIRA... I believed the WIRA and the WAJA would follow the footpath of being ancient models... HoOO brother!! for goodness sake... Simply hopeless... Might as well close shop... rather than making a fool out of themselves... My tinny bit of hope for PROTON to prove people that it can surprise the world with something impressive has shattered... God bless you PROTON...

Yes my fellow MCFers, it's true! Proton is releasing a 2.0 Litre Proton Waja that releases a total of 220 BHP! That's a total of 110 HP PER LITRE! How they manage to achieve this with a NA engine, no one knows! Where they get the technology, WHO KNOWS! But they're currently more efficient than ANY companies out there. It also comes with Recaro seats, Momo steering, V6 24 valve engine, possibly 18 inch rims. How much does this thing cost? 120 thousand ringgit. OMG! Such low prices will KILL competition! In fact, I foresee that the world will be importing the NEW WAJA 2.0 LITRE WITH 220 BHP as it is SO DIRT CHEAP! Here, have a lovely picture of the WAJA 2.0 (Hopefully you can read malay)

So after contemplating on the Matrix and having a joyride with loads of other cars during my test drive days in a search of a new first car, I finally settled on a 1.6 Auto Waja, and have paid my first month deposit on it. Waja feels like a Continental wannabe, and it's a Malaysian, there's no forum for it, so I guess I post here I'll be getting it in two weeks time, and have signed/sold my soul, arms and legs to the bank. I've added leather seats to it, thrown in TuffKote and System6 (paint sealant thingy), still contemplating on the TuffKool option (is that a good/useful item to add?). So my question is this: What does one need to do to ensure that the car will be in tip top condition in the years to come? Anything that I need to add to my (soon to come) car? Things to take note of? Advise? So many questions, just don't know what to ask.
