  1. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D-BQgqSrjI4 The narration is in Cantonese and I picked this particular clip because at least the narrator tried to give some background information regarding this video clip. Anyway, apparently, this clip is at least 10-year-old and allegedly came from the Dark Web. But despite having been around for so long and having been watched by so many people, nobody has solved this internet mystery yet. Who is that guy eating soup in the video? What exactly happened? There has been several theories so far but, unfortunately, no one has come forward with conclusive evidence. Theory #1. He was eating the remains of his loved ones There are some who claimed that the man and his family were abducted by gangsters. The wife (or daughter in some versions) was killed pretty early and they made the soup-eating guy eat the remains of his wife or daughter. That's why he's crying throughout the video. Theory #2. He's the victim of a snuff film Another theory says that the soup-eating man was the victim in a snuff film and the full version only exists in the deep recesses of the Dark Web. That's why the man started crying only when he's approached by the man in the doll costume. Because the victim knew then that his time was up. Theory #3. It's a prank Some say it's just an internet prank. And people who support this theory say that if it were an actual video recording of a real crime in progress, the FBI would have gotten on the case. Assuming, of course, that it was actually filmed in America. And well, there's some proof that it's filmed in USA. Because the designer of the costumes was in the country and the doll costumes were stolen from a club in the country. What do you guys think?
  2. resulted in intern committed suicide... ========================================= ST senior editors Daryl Chin and Marc Lim to be redeployed, following findings by Committee of Inquiry over purported “improper relations” with intern Danisha Hakeem 2018-10-04 Current Affairs Disciplinary actions have been taken by Singapore Press Holdings (SPH) on two senior editors in The Straits Times (ST), following findings by a Committee of Inquiry (COI) regarding an alleged affair with an intern. Earlier on Wednesday, TOC broke the story of Marc Lim, who was appointed as news editor in Sep 2016, being demoted due to the alleged affair. Mr Lim, 42, is married, with two children. Among his key duties is to oversee Singapore news coverage across print and digital platforms. Prior to being a news editor, Mr Lim was the sports editor and the assistant news editor. TOC understands that Mr Lim has been removed from editorial functions, and will no longer hold supervisory roles in his current capacity, in addition to being demoted two levels as a result of the COI investigation. According to sources, ST's Social Media Editor, Daryl Chin is allegedly the other senior editor who is involved with the intern. Mr Chin has been with SPH for almost 12 years, starting as a content producer in Apr 2007 until Aug the following year. He had then taken on the role of a multimedia journalist for RazorTV until Apr 2010, before moving on to the role of Property Correspondent for ST until Aug 2014. Since then, he has been holding the position of Social Media Editor at the mainstream news platform. It is said that the intern had purportedly attempted suicide after her boyfriend – who is neither of the two named editors – confronted her on the alleged affair. Previously, a SPH spokesperson responded to TOC's queries, stating that SPH had convened an internal inquiry after a member of its staff from the ST newsroom was hospitalised last week, and is now undergoing recovery at home. In a statement on 3 Oct, SPH said: "Our top priority is to ensure she receives all medical attention and assistance she needs as well as to provide help to her family at this difficult time." The panel was tasked to probe into allegations surrounding two separate instances of "improper relations" between a subordinate member of staff and two ST editors, and has subsequently found sufficient grounds to conclude that the two editors concerned had breached SPH's code of conduct. The SPH spokesperson said that both Mr Lim and Mr Chin will face disciplinary action “commensurate with the seriousness of their actions”. According to the spokesperson: "One editor will be removed from his post, demoted and redeployed; the other will be given a written warning, have his salary docked, and redeployed." The statement added: "SPH takes a serious view of any transgressions of its code of conduct for its staff and will not hesitate to take appropriate measures following a full and transparent inquiry process." Editor-in-Chief of ST Warren Fernandez said that SPH had “decided that we wouldn’t do an immediate termination… largely because of the good work they’ve done." Touching on a query from an ST staff, Mr Fernandez said that the misconduct by the editors had to do with “supervisors using their positions to get into relationships,” adding that as far as he is informed, the matter is not being investigated by the police. ‘We want to make clear that this kind of behaviour is not acceptable in the ST newsroom. Both of them have done good work in the ST newsroom… we will try our best to support them through this difficult period.” TOC notes that as it is a criminal offence for one to attempt suicide, the police would be looking into the circumstance of the matter and not the alleged affair.
  3. TL;DR: NSF(s) witnessed alleged dog abuse by warrant officer and / or LTC, films portion of abuse, hands video over to Animal Lovers League, who then uploads video online. SAF investigates, gets source from Animal Lovers League video uploader, allegedly promises no punishment for the video taker, charges NSF for taking video in green zone. Regulars not charged as SAF considers abuse not to have happened. Personally I love dogs, though my family don't, so I can't keep them in the house. I'm angry at those who do abuse dogs, cats, or other animals. (Eating them is ok for me, I guess). The FB post is by the father of the NSF who tio SOL for doing the right thing (morally, if not by protocol). Can understand the father's annoyance (to put it mildly) when his son is punished and the regulars got away scot-free from their actions.
  4. From STOMP: http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/stomp/sg..._couple_to.html Posted on 10 Apr 2012 Malaysian mechanics force S'pore couple to pay $925 for minor car repair STOMPer fendi and her husband encountered several mechanics in a workshop in Malaysia who had initially promised them that repairing their broken down car would cost them $103, but later increased the fee to $925. Said the STOMPer: "I'm sharing our bad ordeal which happened on Sunday (Apr 8) at the North-South highway. "Our car broke down at Senawang, Seremban. "At that moment, a red car pulled over and a man in dark blue uniform with an Automobile Association of Malaysia (AAM) pass and logo told us that he has a workshop and will arrange for towing and promised us that it would cost RM250 (SGD$103), inclusive of towing. "The boss told my hubby that it was probably the gearbox but luckily my hubby is familiar with cars and told him that it was the alternator that was spoilt. "The boss told us that he would need to order the parts and asked us to stay at a hotel and collect it the next day. "But we refused and my hubby kept monitoring the progress. "He asked the boss what the cost would be but the boss said to settle it later. "We reached the workshop at 3pm. "The driver that picked us started drinking hard liquor. "After waiting for the repairs (which took 4 hours) to be done, he showed us the bill and we got shocked -- the total amount was RM2,250 (SGD$925). "We told the boss that it was ridiculous and asked why the cost was different from the amount that was earlier promised. We also told him that it was unlikely that a second-hand alternator would cost that much. "At this point, the men started to get rowdy and raised their voices. "We told him that we didn't have enough money, and he asked us to walk to the pump station to withdraw. "My hubby was thinking of our safety, hence we had no choice but to pay them as it was getting dark and we needed to travel a 4-hour long journey back home. "Even the staff at the pump station knew about that workshop and their dishonest methods.. "Back home, I did a search on Google and found out that many others had also fallen prey to this same workshop. "The workshop had used the same method on all their customers, and some who had innocently left their cars at the workshop overnight had ended up paying RM9000 (SGD$3,698) even after a police report was made. "Be cautious. "Why can't the police do anything about this?"

  6. http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/stomp/sg...bs_halfway.html Stars performing at one of the biggest Getai shows of the Hungry Ghost season last night (August 12) found the show thrown into chaos when one-half of the famous Ming Zhu Sisters duo collapsed suddenly, wailing and sobbing incoherently. STOMPer Ian was enjoying the Geylang Serai show from the side of the stage when he heard a woman wailing loudly and sobbing as if something terrible had happened. He was shocked to see Zhu Li Li, younger sister of Getai duo Ming Zhu Sisters, sobbing uncontrollably as her stunned sister and colleagues tried to calm her down. Despite he screams of protest, the getai veteran was carried out into the open field to get more air. Shortly after an ambulance arrived to take her to the hospital, incense and hell money were burnt as an offering to appease the spirits. Though clearly shaken, the stars continued with the show, says an impressed STOMPer Ian. Ian says of the incident: "I was standing near the backstage area. "Zhu Li Li and her sister were part of the six-man hosting team for the night and it was their turn to rest as another singer had gone on stage to perform. "I saw her taking a seat and drinking water when suddenly, she appeared to have collapsed on the floor with sobs. "Her sister was standing next to her and appeared visibly shocked but managed to react quickly enough to support her. "Stars in the waiting area immediately came to help lift her onto a chair but she refused to sit. Her wailing got louder at this point as she begged everyone to let go of her. "They must have thought she was possessed by something supernatural as her elder sister began to ask: 'Who are you?' (你是谁?) repeatedly. "Zhu Li Li did not respond and just kept crying loudly. "Later, I heard from one of the crew that her limbs had gone cold as she collapsed. "They tried to get her fresh air by carrying her out into the open field despite her protests but the crowd that gathered around defeated that purpose. "An ambulance arrived within 10 minutes and she was taken away. "Her sister, who looked scared and confused, along with other stars, began to burn some offerings and incense at the spot where she fainted. "She then wiped away her tears and continued hosting the show with a smile on her face. "It is commendable that she managed to remain so professional despite her worries". 7. Mon, May 03, 2010 The Korea Herald/Asia News Network HAS President Barack Obama been having an affair with Vera Baker? That's the shocking allegation made by the National Enquirer in this week's edition, according to a Hollywood Gossip report. The publication claims Obama and Baker, a former campaign aide, holed up at Washington, D.C. hotel, and a "security video" could expose everything, it said. Baker, now 35, worked tirelessly to get Obama elected to the U.S. Senate, raising millions in campaign contributions, in 2004, the news report said. They grew close since. While Vera Baker insists that "nothing happened" between them, the Enquirer says anti-Obama "operatives" are digging hard into the alleged affair, it said. Some are reportedly offering US$1 million (S$1.367 million) for information confirming it. -The Korea Herald/Asia News Network
  8. WENZHOU, CHINA - Local prosecutors in Zhejiang province have started to look into an alleged rape case which local police refused to investigate. Police in Wenzhou of Zhejiang last Friday turned down an investigation request from Wu Hongjuan, a 24-year-old female worker, because of insufficient evidence to back up her claim that she had been raped by her boss about 30 times over the past two years. Following the police's refusal, Wu posted her story online on Sunday out of "anger" and the post aroused heated discussion. The procuratorate in Longwan district of Wenzhou, which has the power to oversee police work, then intervened in Wu's case and further investigation began on Monday, local media reported. "We're trying to collect as much information as possible, but we'll need time to reach a conclusion," an unnamed official was quoted as saying. Wu told China Daily on Thursday that she told local police about being raped by her boss, Zhang Qihua, last Thursday after dialing 110. However, she was told on Friday her case could not be filed because there was not enough evidence to suggest it could be a rape case. On Sunday, Wu posted a detailed description of her experiences on three well-known forums. "I posted my story along with photos and videos purely to express my discontent and feeling of helplessness at the local police's conclusion. I didn't realize the story would spread in such a short time," she said. Wu, from East China's Anhui province, came to Wenzhou with her boyfriend and started a job in Zhejiang Tianjin New Energy Science & Technology Co Ltd two years ago. She became an administration officer after a few months. During her work in the company, Wu claimed she was pulled out of the office and raped by Zhang 30 times in his office, toilets and dormitory when other colleagues were out of the office, she said. After keeping silent for about two years, Wu claimed she could no longer bear the mental pressure and physical attacks. "I called my uncle, who majored in law, as I didn't think I could handle the sexual abuse any longer. He suggested I call the police," Wu said. Wu said Zhang contacted her two days after the case hit the Internet via a third person to discuss whether they could resolve it behind closed doors. Wu refused and Zhang has not tried to reach her since. Zhang Qihua, the chairman of the company, turned down an interview request from China Daily on Thursday. Heated discussion has spread among netizens, who have offered both support and criticism. Some netizens even called or sent her text messages. "Most calls and texts I've received are of support and sympathy. However, I don't have the courage to browse the online comments because I know there are many people who doubt my motivation for exposing such an intimate, personal story," Wu said. Some netizens wonder whether Wu had been willing to have sexual contact with her boss, otherwise she would have reported it to the police much earlier. Liu Mingyin, a lawyer in Anhui province, said the current evidence, mainly a few photos, are not sufficient to determine a rape case. "However, the police should not have turned down the investigation request," he said. Wu Jiansheng, a lawyer from Zhejiang Gaoce Law Office, also said the decision made by the local police not to file the case was thoughtless. "However, I believe the online discussion and media reports will push the police into making the correct decision," he said. Wu said she and her boyfriend, who has been supporting her since learning of the issue last Friday, are waiting for a decree from local prosecutors. "I tell myself I have to stay strong and positive for the decree. I hope I will get a fair verdict soon," Wu said. -- CHINA DAILY/ASIA NEWS NETWORK

  13. I read the below article from The New Paper, and I wonder - WHAT has become of Singapore's society, when even a 68 year old lady can be assaulted and ignored by the Bus Captain? Where is the FAILURE in this "1st World Country"? ==================== ALLEGED ATTACK ON BUS Punched on bus, she had no help By Shree Ann Mathavan June 07, 2009 A MARKETING trip ended in tears for an elderly woman when a male bus commuter allegedly punched her in the face for not moving out of his way. SCARED BUT FURIOUS: Madam Nyanamani holding her police report at the bus stop where she boarded bus 198. --TNP PICTURE: KELVIN CHNG His friend also hurled obscenities at her. Madam A Nyanamani, 68, a housewife, claimed the driver of SBS Transit 198 ignored her pleas for help and allowed both men to alight while she was crying. Moreover, none of the other commuters on the packed bus lifted a finger to help her, she alleged. The incident, which happened on Wednesday morning , left Madam Nyanamani shaken and slightly bruised around her left eye. She had been on her way home to her four-room HDB flat in Jurong East, where she lives with her husband and her son's family, after her usual trip to the market. Carrying two bags of groceries, she had to stand on the lower deck of the double-decker bus as it was crowded. But a male passenger, who was seated, objected to her standing in front of him and his friend. Both men appeared to be in their 30s, she said. She claimed: 'He said 'no, no you cannot stand there, get out.' She was then standing near the rear of the bus. Madam Nyanamani said she was puzzled as she wasn't obstructing the men by standing in front of their seat. When she asked why, the man allegedly stood up and punched her in the face, right under her left eye. Stunned, the elderly woman, who had a cataract operation on her left eye about five years ago, said her vision blurred at that point. Indignant, Madam Nyanamani asked: 'Why did you punch me?' She said the man's friend replied: 'Why must you stand there?' Vulgarities The friend then shouted vulgarities at her. Afraid that she would get hit again, she held up her hands to shield her face. Thinking that she was going to retaliate by hitting them, the two men threatened to call the police, she claimed.Madam Nyanamani then said she would do the same. The three of them then went to the front of the bus to talk to the driver. Even though Madam Nyanamani tried to tell the bus driver what happened, she claimed he ignored her. She said: 'He didn't want to look at my face, even while the two men continued to hurl vulgarities at me in front of him.' At the next stop, he allowed both men to alight. Madam Nyanamani got off at the stop after that and rang her son for help. Her son, Mr Selvan Kanna, 36, an engineer, lodged a complaint with SBS and made a report at a police station in Jurong East. Madam Nyanamani sought outpatient treatment at a polyclinic. She said: 'I'm scared now to take buses.' -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Bus driver disciplined THE bus captain who let the two men alight after Madam Nyanamani was punched has been disciplined. Ms Tammy Tan, SBS Transit vice-president of corporate communications, told The New Paper: 'Our bus captain should have taken a more pro-active approach and rendered assistance. For failing to do so, he will be disciplined.' She said the bus captain had first become aware of a dispute between Madam Nyanamani and another man when he heard voices raised. However, she noted: 'He had no idea what the commotion was about nor was he aware that she had been assaulted.' The bus captain then contacted the operations control centre to report the incident and seek guidance. By this time, both parties had moved to the front of the bus and were in a 'heated exchange where vulgarities were used'. Ms Tan said: 'We wish to apologise to Madam Nyanamani for his service lapse.'

  15. Fraud of over S$400m alleged at Daewoo Singapore By Chan Hwa Loon, Channel NewsAsia SINGAPORE : Commodity trading firm Daewoo Singapore is alleged to be embroiled in fraud involving more than S$400 million, and the High Court has ordered the company to be compulsorily wound up. The company's creditor, Korea Asset Management Corp (Kamco), had asked for such a ruling because it was not satisfied with the firm being "voluntarily" wound up. A probe commissioned by Kamco has alleged that a related company's debt of over S$400 million at Daewoo Singapore appeared to have been incurred in highly questionable and suspicious circumstances. These circumstances point to not merely mismanagement, but fraudulent and wrongful acts on the part of the directors and officers of the company or its shareholders. A compulsory liquidation will leave it to the Court to appoint an independent liquidator, instead of letting Daewoo Singapore appoint its own liquidator under voluntary liquidation. Law firm Rajah & Tann, which is representing Kamco, says this is the first time in recent legal history that a Court has put a company into compulsory liquidation. This is despite the company having already put itself into a voluntary winding-up. - CNA
