  1. My car, less than three months old, kena bird s--t. Sent the car for grooming by Imperial1, the stain is still obvious, if viewed from a certain angle. Sigh... For bros who have PPS on their rides, please advise how effective is it against bird droppings, especially if they have been in contact with the paintwork for more than six hours. Thanks
  2. All car owners reckon that one of the worst things that could happen when they park their cars in an open-air car park is to find bird droppings on their car. If these droppings are not cleaned immediately, they could damage the car's body paint and it could be rather expensive for the owners to repair the damaged paint work. A new research has revealed that the colour of your car could attract more of these birds to relief themselves on your car. Yeah, I know it sounds a little ludicrous but it is just a study that records the frequency of bird droppings based on the colour of the car. Let us see what this study has revealed. United Kingdom online retailer, Halfords, has conducted a research on the above mentioned subject. The sample included 1,140 cars in Brighton, Glasgow, Leeds, Manchester and Bristol, although there's no indication as to the total number of each car colour in the group. Bright red cars attract more bird droppings than vehicles of any other colour; green cars were found to suffer the least, followed by silver, while white vehicles escaped more often than black. During the study, drivers were also asked how quickly they removed droppings from their cars. Only 17 per cent, one in six, said they wiped off deposits immediately when they saw them, 20 per cent said they took action "within a couple of days" while 55 per cent waited until the next car wash. The remaining 8 per cent never washed their cars or left it to others to organise. As well as being unsightly, insurance industry figures show bird droppings on vehicles can be an expensive problem and estimate the damage caused by bird-poop-stained paintwork costs motorists
  3. Hi fellow MCF pals, today was a unlucky day for me. The bird droppings hit my bonnet leaving tiny small marks and it's almost the same as melted plastic. When I run my nails on it, I could feel it and it's visible during day time. I'm aware that bird droppings are very acidic especially black crows. Greatly appreciate if anyone could provide some advices or remedies to it. Hopefully I don't need to have the entire bonnet resprayed. Many thanks.

  6. i found some white paint (some 5x3mm) after parking in a newly painted multi-storey carpark anyway i can clean it up without damaging my black corolla?? very tempted to use thinner.. someone recommended using detailing clay.. but i am not sure
  7. OK been reading much on bird dropping and how the damage occurs. The bird's waste is acidic. When dried, it will penetrate THROUGH THE CLEAR AND INTO THE COLOR BASECOAT! Swirl mark removers can correct this feebly, you need to get the surface refinished by a professional. Check the pictures below: http://www.autoint.com/tips/bird_dropping.html The paid acts like a sponge and keeps the acid in there. Come rain, the acid is reactivated and eats more of the body! Slowly the hole becomes bigger and bigger. The acid must be neutralized first before any work can be attempted. The funny thing is that dead insects are also acidic! Their dead bodies are acidic as well and destroy car paintwork! No wonder I remember a time while I was in my bros car driving up north and when we came to a smokey area the bugs were flying out ramming into his car. He was screaming in pain all the way!
  8. The markings are still visible after washing, applying the wax and polish on the paintwork. What is the most effective way to get rid of ugly markings left over by acidic bird-droppings ?
