  3. Pretty impressive!!! ******************************************************** http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/afp...1260132/1/.html Australian casino hit by "Ocean's Eleven" scam Posted: 15 March 2013 1158 hrs MELBOURNE: Australia's largest casino has alerted police to a betting scam in which a high-roller reportedly netted AU$32 million (US$33 million) in an "Ocean's Eleven" style heist. Melbourne's Herald-Sun newspaper on Friday said a foreigner staying at the Crown Casino was involved in the sting, which it believes accessed the venue's own surveillance cameras, which are constantly trained on players and croupiers. Information gleaned from the images taken by the high-resolution cameras was apparently signalled to the high-roller as he played cards, the paper said, comparing it to Hollywood blockbuster "Ocean's Eleven". In the 2001 comedy-crime caper, actors Brad Pitt and George Clooney also recruited someone familiar with security to rob a series of Las Vegas casinos. Crown said a staff member from the VIP gambling area had been sacked and the patron involved banned after the scam was uncovered several weeks ago, the newspaper added. Victoria state police said they had been informed of the incident. Deakin University's Linda Hancock, who has written a book about Crown, said surveillance cameras were throughout the casino but even more intensified in the premium areas. "There's someone in monitoring rooms looking at them in real time," she told the ABC. "So they must have picked up that there was a winning streak here that looked suspicious and zoomed in on it and then been able to look at what was going on in real time in the room." Reports said Crown believed it could recover a significant portion of the money.

  6. SINGAPORE: A taxi ploughed into a convenience store located at Tiong Bahru Plaza on Friday. Police said they received a call about the accident at about 1pm. Hotline callers to MediaCorp said the impact of the accident shattered the taxi's rear glass panel as well as the glass panel of the store. A man, aged 56, was hit by the taxi. He suffered leg injures. The other two women - one aged 18, the the other 51 years old - suffered cuts from the shattered glass. All three suffered minor injuries and were sent to Singapore General Hospital. The taxi driver, a man in his 50s, escaped unharmed. Police are investigating the cause of the incident. One witness said: "It was loud. I could hear it from my friend's house. So I quickly ran down to see what happened." Another added: "There was a man who was sandwiched between the taxi and the shop. The taxi had hit him. The taxi was going to reverse, but then driver stopped himself because he was afraid the man would get injured." - CNA/ir/ms
  7. hi Bros/Sis, I visited this 7-eleven franchise road show at marina square yesterday. Many people are there inquiring. I saw both young and old. -initial investment can range from 50k to over 200k, depending on takeover store location. -have to attend 3mths training on store management. I had been an employee for 13 years, so now thinking whether to switch path. No prior experience in doing business. Never work in any front line job. I view this as a chance to be own boss and switch line. But this is not a small investment for me. does any bros here have experience in this area? or any other franchise? anything to take note... the first feedback i got so far is, Cheers is cheaper than 7-eleven... thanks & regards
  8. Hi all, me thinking of taking up a 7-Eleven franchise. Would love to find out if there are anyone running a store right now. Coz wish to find out how much a franchisee actually takes home Please PM me if its inconvenient for you to post a reply here
  9. I think it's really unfair for them to take away the cash card top up machine and thus topping up have to be done at the cashier. There is a fee of 50 cents for doing that. Really felt that is unnecessary. Why can't just leave that machine alone. Still have to spent time queuing up just to top up cash card. Who can we complain to?
