  1. Fifth Season Tangra Chinese from Kolkata – A true fusion of India, China and Tibet. Indian Chinese cuisine was born in Tangra, located on the east of Kolkata, the only China Town in India. The Chinese of Kolkata were best known for mainly leather shoe manufacturers, beauty parlor owners and dentists. Thousands of Hakka Chinese focused their business mainly in leather tanneries at Tangra. Hardworking and ambitious, they would not spare any field, so, why food? Influenced by local culture and taste, they opened restaurants for Bengalis by spicing the bland sauces with hot fresh green chillies. As Bengalis love to eat and explore anything new, they found a new and addictive taste with a perfect balance of hot, sweet and sourness in the dishes. With this identity the Indian Chinese food spread to almost all street corners in Kolkata. Within a short span of time it spread to the whole of India with its regional influence of food habits. The green chillies in Kolkata’s chilli chicken might have got replaced by dry red chilli in Delhi’s chilli chicken, but the Indian Chinese food fever did not spare any Indian from great grandson to great grandfather. You may find Indians not knowing about many regionally popular Indian dishes but you cannot find an Indian not knowing about Hakka Chowmein, Chilli Chicken and Gobi Manchurian. Indian Chinese food transformed into a complete cuisine when thousands of Tibetans migrated to India and added delicacies like thukpa (spicy noodle soup) and momos (special dumpling) which is also the winner of the title ‘Best dish of the year 2009′ by Fifth Season at the Singapore Food Festival 2009. This unique fusion of flavors of India, China and Tibet is brought to you in Singapore by Fifth Season, located within 1 minute of Little India MRT. Unlike the four seasons, which come and go, Fifth Season remains open throughout the year with the same love and passion to serve the best of Indian Chinese cuisine. 3. Source The man who played Top Gear driver The Stig has joined rival show Fifth Gear. Ben Collins, 35, will debut on the Five programme when the new series launches next week. He will appear unmasked because The Stig is a BBC trademark. 'I'm delighted to be joining the Fifth Gear team,' he says. 'And I'm looking forward to a new set of exciting challenges...apparently with and without the helmet. Former Formula Three star Ben was identified as The Stig last month after the BBC lost a High Court bid to block the publication of his forthcoming autobiography, in which he outs himself. He is the second driver to take on the role - he slipped into the hot seat vacated by Formula 1's Perry McCarthy, 49, in 2003. Top Gear bosses are expected to hire a new Stig now. ================================================================================ =================

  8. URL - http://www.motioncars.com/autobuzz/article...w_5-series.html Spied! BMW's Fifth Generation 5-series By Ulysses Ang After boasting about the advantages of a normally aspirated, high-revving engine, BMW seems to be giving into what its competitors have been doing: relying on forced air. The fifth-generation 5-series is expected to make a debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March with a 380 bhp twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-6. Other engines that will complete the 5-series' line-up include a new 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4. Of course, the usual normally aspirated inline-6s in 2.2-liter, 2.5-liter and 3.0-liter displacements will still be made available. A few months into sales, the 7-series' 3.6-liter and 4.5-liter V8s will be made available. Underneath, the 5-series will use a lightweight hybrid construction found in the Z8 and the Rolls-Royce Phantom. The new suspension system will use an aluminum spaceframe with extensive use of aluminum bits to keep the weight below the 2002 model. The new 5-series is not expected to carry the entire safety and comfort features of the current 7-series, however, it is rumored to carry a steering system that corrects for high-speed cross winds and heavy braking; an automatic damping suspension system; dynamic stability controls and a less complex iDrive system. From these photos, the new BMW 5-series looks like a shrunken 7-series. Though the looks maybe questionable, the performance certainly isn't with new turbocharged engines available for the first time.
  9. Due in the States next summer as a 2004 model, the fifth-generation 5 Series will likely bow at the Geneva motor show in March with a new 380-hp, twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder. Other engines slated for the 5 include a turbo 2.0-liter inline four and naturally aspirated versions of BMW
